While many celebrities and everyday folk alike took to Instagram to send heartwarming wishes to the dads in their lives on Father’s Day, Tamar Braxton wasn’t one of them.
The singer utilized the social media platform Sunday, June 16 to recognize her father, Michael Braxton, and estranged husband Vince Herbert for the annual celebration all about dads.
“Happy Father’s Day y’all 🌟” she simply wrote in the caption accompanied by an old photo of her with her dad and a screenshot of what appeared to be a video chat with Herbert and their 6-year-old son Logan.
The terse caption had fans instantly remarking on how unenthusiastic she seemed to be about the yearly observation.
“Dam Tamar thats how U feel.”
“😂😂😂 a dry ass hot mess of a post lmao.”
“I know this caption shouldn’t be funny! But I’m laughing so hard! Maybe it’s the way it’s worded but not the way it’s intended 😩😂😂😂”
“😂😂😂 Dry as hell 💀”
“Whew Chile the shade 😩”
Perhaps one reason for the straight-ahead caption could be the infidelity of Tamar’s dad. Channeling the anger her mom Evelyn felt when Michael stepped out on her, Tamar recorded the song “My Man” back in 2017 about her father’s unfaithfulness. Also notable is the rocky family mediation Tamar, Michael, Evelyn and the rest of the Braxton sisters had with Iyanla Vanzant on the last season of “Braxton Family Values.”
As for Herbert, Tamar filed to divorce him in fall 2017 amid rumors he was also unfaithful. However, she nipped those reports in the bud, saying on Instagram at the time, “Let me be CRYSTAL clear before this untrue story gets out of hand. If this was [true].. she would be MINE as well… she would be all over MY Instagram, media outlets, pictures, interviews etc.”
The couple’s split has yet to be finalized but more recently she maintained that the two are on good terms.
“Vince and I don’t work together anymore but I’m glad I got my friend back. … Our relationship is great, we cool,” she told “The Natalie Eva Marie Show” in February. “Obviously, I never thought I would be in this situation, but I think it’s for the best. I think there’s hope that he’s happy and definitely hope for my own happiness because us together and working together was completely toxic for our marriage. Our marriage had absolutely no hope after a few years of working together, the way we were working together.”
