Tamar Braxton Isn’t Looking to Rekindle Romance with Estranged Hubby Vince Herbert, but Filing for Divorce Has Led to Something Greater

Tamar Braxton may not be looking to reconcile with estranged husband Vince Herbert, but she says filing for divorce has led her to rekindle a friendship with him.

Braxton explained the status of her relationship with the father of her 5-year-old son, Logan, to fellow “Celebrity Big Brother” contestant Natalie Eva Marie on the former professional wrestler’s podcast Wednesday.

“Vince and I don’t work together anymore but I’m glad I got my friend back. … Our relationship is great, we cool.” Braxton says on “The Natalie Eva Marie Show” Feb. 27. “Obviously, I never thought I would be in this situation but I think it’s for the best. I think there’s hope that he’s happy and definitely hope for my own happiness because us together and working together was completely toxic for our marriage. Our marriage had absolutely no hope after a few years of working together, the way we were working together.”

Braxton filed to divorce Herbert in October 2017 after she initially defended her husband against rumors of infidelity. Before the split, the singer, who used to be managed by Herbert, announced her fifth studio album, “Bluebird of Happiness,” would be her last. She said giving up music allowed her to focus on her marriage.

But the harm was irreparable, and Braxton has since been plugging away to get their 10-year union dissolved. As of October 2018, The Blast reported Herbert has not been doing his part by showing up to court dates to get the divorce on a roll.

Meanwhile, Braxton recently checked in with her team to see if the split had been finalized. During an exit interview after she won the grand prize on “Celebrity Big Brother” last month, the star admitted she wasn’t sure if she was legally single.

“I don’t even know if I’m divorced,” she said while speaking to Entertainment Weekly. A member of her team confirmed she is not yet divorced.

But that has not stopped the performer from diving into the dating pool. She was introduced to a “Nigerian Harvard graduate” she calls variously, “T’Chella,” “Wakanda,” and “Yemi” last summer, and the pair have been going strong for the last eight or so months.

Even 30 days away to compete on the CBS reality show couldn’t put a damper on their romance. Braxton also made it clear to E!’s “Daily Pop” last week that she is “absolutely” in love with her man.

“Like, head over heels, like never before!” she exclaimed Feb. 22. “Like I’m 17 again. It’s amazing! He’s got a couple [of jobs] and he’s fine!”
