Cardi B celebrated her 29th birthday with a ’90’s-dancehall-themed party in Los Angeles on Monday, Oct. 11. According to social media, the “WAP” rapper spent the night dancing and having a ball with her friends: Normani, Lizzo, Megan Thee Stallion, Quavo, Teyana Taylor, Snoop Dogg and Tiffany Haddish, to name a few.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Oct. 12, Cardi revealed her husband, Offset, purchased her a house in the Dominican Republic, which her father helped him find.
“My love. For a hot minute now I’ve been telling ‘Set’ [her nickname for Offset] that I really want to invest in short term home rental properties in the DR and other Caribbean countries (since people vacation all year round in those locations), but I felt like he didn’t agree with me and would rather put money into other investments.”
The “Bodak Yellow” rapper added, “Well, I was wrong. I just can’t believe this! This was so amazing to me. For one, I’m so happy that you were actually really listening to me and not just smiling and nodding your head, so I could stop talking to you about it. Two, you don’t think my investment ideas are wack, and three, I love that you asked my dad to work with you on this.”
She continued, “You and my dad (and [our baby boy]) are the most important men in my life and it makes me so happy that you guys are close and have your own bond and relationship. I [love] you so much and I can’t wait for this hangover to go away so I can show you my full appreciation.”
In a video from the party, captured by @HeartoftheStreetz, Offset claims he “spent some millions” on the DR property, which sits “right here on the ocean.” Fans in the comments shared their well-wishes for Cardi, yet others brought up Ari Flecther gifting Moneybagg Yo acres of land for his birthday last month.
“But y’all had a problem when baby girl got Moneybag land? Y’all be killing me wit this s–t [laughing],” one fan writes.
“Lol he came back after Ari was trending about Moneybag.”
“He trying be like ari now.”
Another person joked that Cardi now has a place to get away from Offset’s cheating past, writing, “So she can live there, while he cheats in the mainland USA.”
On Twitter, some thought Offset’s luxurious gift for Cardi B put him in the ranks with hip-hop’s billionaire couple, Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
“The fact that Offset brought Cardi B a house in Dominican Republic that right there is some Beyoncé & Jay-Z type s–t. Congratulations to @iamcardib and @OffsetYRN, [you] did that my guy.”
Both Cardi B and Beyoncé became powerhouses in the music industry while raising children with men who stepped outside of their marriage. Through her 2016 album, “Lemonade,” Beyoncé tells the story of a woman who overcame the sourness of her cheating lover and gained more self-confidence.
Cardi B initially forgave Offset for cheating during their marriage, but ultimately filed for divorce in September 2020. At the time, the “Be Careful” rapper cited their marriage was “irretrievably broken” and “there are no prospects for a reconciliation,” according to PEOPLE. Cardi and Offset share a 3-year-old daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, and welcomed a baby boy, who shares the same birthday as Queen Bey — Sept. 4.
