‘Nae! Come on Nae’: Fans Implore Reginae Carter to Distance Herself from Rapper YFN Lucci Amid His Murder Investigation

Despite receiving backlash from fans for an earlier post regarding rapper YFN LucciReginae Carter continues to stand by her man.

On Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, the former “Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta” star shared a photo of her and boyfriend YFN Lucci on her Instagram Stories, which pictured the two getting cozy while on a balcony. The reality star inserted a checklist type gif on the snap that read, “I like you, I love you, I miss you.”

Lucci, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett, is currently behind bars for what police say was his involvement in a December shooting. On Jan. 13, the 29-year-old turned himself in to Fulton County Jail authorities after a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges that include murder. Lucci is being accused of being the driver “behind the wheel of the car used in a gang-related drive-by” that left 28-year-old James Adams dead and another person injured.

Gossip blog site The Shade Room reposted Reginae’s snap, and folks dragged the 22-year-old for her continued support of the rapper, including one user who wrote, “If ‘DO AS I SAY .. NOT AS I DO’ was a person 😂😂😂.” Another person commented, “Girl he gonna be gone for a while might as well move a long🤣.”

Meanwhile, other people suggested that Lucci was not a proper fit for Reginae and encouraged her to see the blessing in disguise. “When God remove a person because he knows when we’re to weak to remove ourselves.👁,” a third person expressed.

“Nae! Come on Nae,” a fourth pleaded. They added, “You’re so much smarter than this baby. Besides him catching a case, the man can’t even hold a sentence 🤦🏾‍♀️.”

One user left a statement that appeared to gain a large majority of people in agreement. “U know who else miss they loved one?” the person questioned. “The family of the man lucci pushed out the car in the middle of the street after he was shot in da head.”

The celebrity child of Toya Johnson and rapper Lil Wayne had been dating the “Everyday We Lit” MC since 2018 but split shortly after Lucci attended the now-infamous “cucumber party” in August 2019. Soon afterward, Reginae vowed never to date another rapper, telling reality TV star Shekina Anderson during an Instagram Live chat that she had “learned her lesson.” She later confirmed she and Lucci had reconciled a year later in November 2020.
