‘Stop Playing the Dog’: Bow Bow Responds to Viral Debate About Charging $1K for Meet and Greet Tickets

Social media is an uproar after two debates involving rapper Bow Wow have gone viral. The first of the debates began on Sept. 4 when a tweet offered two options: Have dinner with the rapper or collect $2,900 in food stamps.

The question is similar to the one posed last year, when fans were torn between choosing to have dinner with Jay-Z or taking $500,000 in cash. More than a few people opted to have dinner with the mogul in hopes that they would walk away with money-making tips. But, in Bow Wow’s case, an overwhelming number of responses proved social users were more enticed by a grocery store shopping spree than settling for one meal.

“Y’all so disrespectful but if you see me in Costco buying all the groceries, mind ya business. 😂 FOOD STAMPS >>> BOW WOW,” tweeted one person. Other tweets included memes that illustrated how they would slam their EBT card on the counter while checking out at the store, and memes showing how they would gleefully run through the store pushing a loaded cart.

“D–n Bow Wow this is me leaving Publix with the last bit of Alaskan king crabs after I clean them out with my food stamps,” read another tweet.

A few fans, however, shared that breaking bread with the “Like Mike” actor would be nostalgic. “Those stamps sound good but I’d have to pick dinner with Bow for my inner child. He was my first crush. His debut album was my first cd. The OG Scream tour was my first concert. I had Word Up posters of him all over my walls. Dog tags with his face around my neck. I loved him,” read a tweet from a one-time Bow Wow fanatic.

Another person willing to take up the dinner offer wrote, “Dinner with Bow Wow, he gonna give me the game to get $2900 in food stamps on my own ion take hand outs.”

Bow Wow has been known to fire off a tweet or two when he becomes a trending topic of discussion online, but in this case he has yet to publicly respond. He did, however, tweet and delete a few reactions to the second debate over his meet-and-greet prices. The “Fresh Azimiz” emcee is gearing up for the 24-city “The Millennium Tour: Turned Up” with Keri Hilson, Pleasure P, Mario and several other acts.

On Sept. 6, a TikTok of a woman sharing the shock she experienced after finding out Bow Wow was charging $1,000 for top-tier meet and greet tickets went viral. Social media users chiming in on the debate were split between agreeing the tickets were overpriced while others felt the price was appropriate when considering his entire music career.

“I hate how people try to discredit Bow Wow. At one point in time, he could’ve charged double this price for a meet and greet. There are people who will willingly pay $1k to meet him in ‘22. She’s bugging,” commented one person in response to the TikTok.

Another wrote, “The meet and greet with Bow Wow don’t hit the same as Chris Brown. All Bow Wow fans are grown parents. Chris still active out here. Making new fans. Early 2000’s I would have sold my youngest sibling for bow wow lol.”

Possibly fed up with the banter, Bow Wow clapped back at those who were slamming him over the meet-and-greet price. “My meet n greets start at 150$ yall only reporting the diamond package. Stop acting like to meet me its a stack… there are 3 packages you can choose from. READ BEFORE YALL START POSTING S*** ON THESE BLOGS,” he wrote in a tweet that was deleted soon after it posted.

In a second tweet that was also deleted, he wrote, “You see when im chilling minding my business staying off the net THEY STILL HAVE TO TALK ABOUT ME,” he said. “One week its ‘Bow wow sells out o2 arena hes a goat’ to who wants to meet him for 1k? Ya baby momma n**** thats who. Read before u post bout me. Stop playing with the dog.”
