‘So Why Divorce?’: DeVon Franklin Further Perplexes Fans By Saying Meagan Good Is the ‘Love of My Life’ After Split

Devon Franklin may have filed paperwork to end his marriage to Meagan Good, but that does not necessarily equal love loss.

The pastor and “Harlem” actress officially called it quits days ahead of Christmas with Franklin filing for divorce in a Los Angeles court on December 20. The couple was married for almost a decade; most recently they celebrated their ninth anniversary this past June.

Franklin, who is also a studio executive, has mirrored his future ex-wife’s approach to the media attention by remaining mum. But for photogs hoping to get a comment from him regarding the split, their lucky day came just four days after both Franklin and Good shared identical posts about their pending divorce.

While leaving an L.A.-area gym Franklin was asked “Is everything good, man? Are y’all still friends?” Franklin, 43, surprisingly responded with, “Man, that’s the love of my life.”

While his statement may have quieted speculation of turmoil brewing between the former lovers, it did little to ease confusion for fans still wondering what wrong in the picturesque union.

“Love of your life?? So why divorce [thinking emoji]”

“Why would you want to divorce the love of your life? Make it make sense.”

Others questioned if filing for divorce is simply a restructuring of the union. “So are you guys together without the commitment of marriage?” wrote one person on social media. In their joint statement the couple said the separation was the “next best chapter in the evolution of our love,” which only fueled more questions for those perplexed by the seemingly amicable split.

Still, the Hollywood couple’s decision to throw in the towel was anything but a surprise to fans who speculated trouble in paradise leading up to the announcement of their split. For months fans took notice of Good being photographed without her wedding ring and the couple’s lack of joint photos being shared to social media.

For a moment hope was renewed when Franklin shared a post stating he was “so proud of my love” for her new show “Harlem” on Prime Video. Inevitably, some fans are still holding out hope that in time reconciliation will be an option for the couple.

“I just have a sneaky feeling this is fixable. They gotta want it though.”

“I’m praying they work this out”
