Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin are divorcing after nine years of marriage. Based on their joint statement to People magazine on Dec. 21, the decision appears to be an amicable one. In their statement, the couple said, “There’s no one at fault, we believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love.”
The couple, especially Good, has always been very open with fans on social media about their relationship.
“After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to go into our futures separately but forever connected…We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and a love that is eternal,” she wrote.
“There’s no one at fault, we believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love. We are incredibly grateful for the life-changing years we’ve spent together as husband and wife. We are also extremely thankful to God for the testimony being created inside us both and for blessing our lives with each other.”
Although the news may come as a shock for those who follow the couple’s relationship, it is not very surprising that they considered their statement carefully and together. And Franklin revealed even further that they have been separated for four months already prior to filing for divorce.
Earlier this year, in June, Good and Franklin celebrated their nine-year anniversary and shared via Instagram their tributes to one another. Good, in particular, shared a four-minute highlight reel of their relationship and said, “To the love of my life, my husband, purpose partner, happy anniversary!! This makes #9 and eternity you go! You are the best decision I’ve ever made (besides loving Jesus lol). I love you with everything inside me. In this life and in the next.”
Franklin also publicly professed his love and affection with, “I love you my love. Happy Anniversary #9.”
The couple even wrote a best-selling book together in 2015 called “The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love,” which described their courtship, values and even shared intimate details that included the fact that they waited to have sex until marriage and that that really worked well for them that the time.
The couple had even gone into details at the start of 2021, saying that they were ready to have children and that Good had been ready to conceive right before the pandemic hit.
