It looks like Van Johnson is the latest cast mate in hot water with “Black Ink Crew: Chicago” viewers.
Last season, Johnson ended things on a bad note with a few of his co-stars, one person being his longtime friend Charmaine Walker. A rumor about Walker giving Johnson oral sex circulated around 9MAG at the time and Johnson didn’t do anything to stop it. Even when Walker asked Johnson to tell everyone it wasn’t true, he didn’t say anything.
The 2nd City Ink owner later went on her Instagram page to address the matter and wrote, “Never in my life have I ever had any sexual contact with Van. It makes me sick to my stomach to see how low some will go for this show. … Brothers are no longer brothers … Relationships are ruined, so let’s remember to keep that same energy when it’s ‘your turn.'”
On Wednesday night’s episode, the two former 9MAG employees finally came face to face for the first time in six months. Johnson unexpectedly popped up at Walker’s shop to bury the hatchet and apologize to her once and for all.
“The tension is obviously thick between me and you. So I’m coming here with no intent. I’m coming to set the record straight,” Johnson told Walker. “Me and you know that nothing happened between me and you on a sexual level. … What I should’ve been a man about and stood up and said that s–t did not happen. … I’m sorry for whatever came out on my end. I will hope for forgiveness, if not now, then some day in the future.”
Johnson said he blamed their co-star Don Brumfield for spreading the rumor.
Walker tearfully responded, saying she felt “extremely attacked” at the time of the rumor. She added in her confessional, “Why would I forgive Van? … It’s not even just about Van, it’s about all of the guys involved. I’ve left that energy in the past and I just wanna move forward.”
“Black Ink Crew: Chicago” fans agreed with Walker and believed Johnson’s apology should’ve come sooner.
“Don’t forgive his ass he should of stop the bull when it was said 😒. Why didn’t he apologize about this months ago? Why you bringing it up now, when she’s pregnant? This could’ve been solved. It’s too late Van!!!”
“Van can’t take accountability for anything he was wrong for not even checking it and wanting it to spread , they tried to taint Charmaine image in a negative light and it wasn’t cool.”
