R&B singer Monica Brown seems to be surrounded by a great support system as she follows through with her impending divorce with estranged husband Shannon Brown.
In late March, news broke that the “Don’t Take It Personal” singer filed divorce documents in Atlanta after being married to the former NBA player for eight years. It’s unclear what caused the couple to split, but it apparently was bad enough for her to throw in the towel.
During episode 7 of “T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle” that aired on Monday night, Monica sat down with longtime friend Tiny Harris who checked on her after news of her divorce became public. She made it known to the Xscape singer that her marriage with Shannon was seemingly over for good, indicating that she doesn’t plan on reconciling with him.
Harris, whose filed for divorce twice from her rapper husband T.I., spoke about reconciling with her husband despite calling it quits as recently in 2017.
“It’s been ups and downs,” the mother of four told Monica. “It’s just the bond we’ve been together for so long. We’ll be thinking yeah, it’s over, but something brought us back.”
Harris said when she filed for divorce from T.I. for a second time, she was sure it was over for good, but the rapper apparently fought for their marriage to make it work.
“Something brought us back and we were able to make it work. I don’t know what made him step up, because I was at my breaking point. I was gone,” Harris said.
Monica suggested that the hardest thing about her divorce has been trying to keep everything “normal” for her kids. She and Shannon share 5-year-old daughter, Laiyah Brown together. She also has two sons, Rocko and Romelo Hill, from her previous relationship with Atlanta rapper Rocko Hill.
“I’m just gonna stay focused on my kids, make sure that nothing’s changing how they feel.”
Monica filed for divorce from Shannon in early March according to TMZ, but news of it surfaced later that month. She apparently was trying to keep her divorce documents sealed but was unsuccessful in doing so. It’s unclear if she will seek spousal or child support.
