Kanye West treated Alton Sterling’s oldest son to his concert tour Nov. 1, leading many on social media to praise the move.

Cameron Sterling turned 16 this week, and his family lawyer, Justin Bamberg, shared a photo of the teen posing with West and his wife Kim Kardashian Nov. 2.

“Shoutout to @kanyewest & @KimKardashian for showing 16th bday love last night to my client #CameronSterling, eldest son of #AltonSterling,” Bamberg wrote on Twitter.

Cameron attended the Saint Pablo Tour during the Inglewood, California stop at The Forum. In the photo, he smiles while wearing a pass, standing between West and Kardashian.

“I bet that made his night,” Denise O’Beirne tweeted. Bamberg confirmed his client “absolutely did” in a reply.

Other Twitter users also praised the move.

“It’s a whole new level of respect now,” Brittanie wrote.

“So dope” user Bhristopher Bolumbus simply tweeted.

Still, at least one person believed the invite was “trash.”

Although the gesture may not have been approved by all, Kanye’s tour invite to Cameron did not emerge from thin air. The rapper tweeted about Alton Sterling’s death by police earlier this year.

The tweet linked to the video depicting police shooting and killing the 37-year-old father in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

On July 5, 2016, Sterling had been selling CDs outside of a local convenience store. A bystander caught police pinning him to the ground before one officer shot Sterling to death.

In the four months since then, progress has been slow in finding answers to Sterling’s case. The victim’s aunt, Sandra Sterling, told myarklamiss.com that new information may not come until next year.

“I’m sure the whole city of Baton Rouge is waiting on the verdict because right now we know nothing,” family friend Keon Preston told the website. “Right now, we are continuing to play the waiting game.”

Still, he applauded West and Kardashian for backing Cameron.

“They are supporting the Sterling family, and they’re just with them at this point and with him spending his birthday with them, I think that was a great idea. I’m sure there is going to be more to come,” Preston said.
