In the past, former “Basketball Wives” star Ogom “O.G.” Chijindu has been vocal about how other castmates and production treated her while filming the reality show. Chijindu starred in the hit VH1 series for two seasons.
Chijindu claimed that during her time there, she was characterized as aggressive because of the complexion of her skin. Chijindu also accused Evelyn Lozada of being a colorist, following the 46-year-old’s remarks and actions during the pair’s explosive arguments and social media spats.
On Oct. 1, former “BBW” star Tami Roman confirmed those allegations during an interview with the “Basketball Wives Club” podcast. In the discussion, Roman shared that Chijindu was being ridiculed over her appearance by the show’s producers.
The 52-year-old said, “When they were putting O.G. through the casting process, one of the producers came up to me and said, ‘She’s ugly and doesn’t dress well. Wait ’til you get inside and see what she has on.’ And the first thing that came to my mind was that’s exactly how the f–k y’all did me! This is some bulls–t.”
Roman continued the conversation by saying that she felt the producers purposely criticized Chijindu to make her unlikable to the other cast.
Roman said, “OG’s mad cool and I’m glad we are friends, but I don’t necessarily know that I would have been as concerned with being her friend had they not said that. You understand what I’m saying. It’s like y’all are trying to make it so that nobody don’t like her and that’s not cool ’cause that’s exactly what y’all did to me.”
Further into the discussion, Roman, who is still good friends with Chijindu, shared the reason why she couldn’t defend or be an alliance for the former Legends Football League player during their time together on season seven of “BBW” was because she completely “checked out.”
“By the time O.G. came on board I was checked out so I wasn’t really as much of an alliance as she may have needed to stay in that situation because no one was willing to fight for her. I’ve always been a person that like right is right and wrong is wrong.”
While discussing the treatment Chijindu reportedly endured, Roman added, “Everything that they did to OG was wrong. Like I saw it with my own eyes. It’s not something that she’s fabricating, it’s not like she’s making up stuff. It was wrong how they treated that girl and how they did that girl legitimately and that is the honest-to-God truth. So by the time I left it was her against the world.”
Toward the end of the interview, Roman shared that the other women would not have liked Chijindu because they would have felt inadequate around her due to her various characteristics. The mother of two described Chijindu as a person who doesn’t back down and has a clear point of view and sense of self.
Roman followed up those comments by telling the hosts that Chijindu was entertaining to watch on television, despite allegedly not being offered an opportunity to return to “BBW” for season nine.
Chijindu has yet to respond to Roman’s comments.
