Former child star Meagan Good has spent the majority of her life in the spotlight. However, during the time of her marriage to Hollywood film executive and Christian motivational speaker DeVon Franklin her presence in the media, outside of promoting her projects, has been a lot more toned down.
Now, since the announcement of her divorce on Dec. 21, 2021, and the premiere of her hit Amazon series “Harlem,” she is back on people’s radar. This time she believes she is mature enough to handle it and the fans have embraced her differently.
In an interview with xoNecole, the actress talked about how she is dealing with social media since her divorce announcement, saying “In this particular season, it warms my heart.”
For Good, she has tried not to pay too much attention to social media because statistics show the “negative” comments affect people “twenty times more than something positive.”
“I’m careful to not let the positive or the negative determine anything about how I feel,” she shares.” But I will say that it has been very heartwarming to see so many people rooting for me and wishing the best for me and wanting to see me live my best life and loving on me and pouring into me.”
“That, I appreciate.”
The actress’ has sent social media ablaze as of late with her photos and videos. In January, she was trending on Twitter after she shared a photo of herself at a Los Angeles Rams play-off game wearing a jersey that said “Ms. Good If Ya Nasty.”
And most recently, she had everyone talking again after showing off her swimsuit body as a collaborator with Matte Collection.
Like most people in the limelight, Good says she has learned how to deal with the opinions of other people, especially the larger public.
She believes age has to do with the lens through which she processes comments from the world.
“I’m 40, so I’m in a different space. I don’t care as much as I used to. I used to care so much and — it’s nice because it’s freeing,” she confessed, even sharing a poem with her fans about her newfound liberation.
“I wrote this poem and it’s on my Instagram page and it was just like what I was feeling. But it was like, I, for years, felt like I was at the edge of a cliff, and people were poking and prodding me and all I was trying to do was just not fall,” the “Eve’s Bayou” actress recalled.
“And then one day, I jumped. When I jumped, I started flying.”
She continues to fly high. Her hit series “Harlem” has been picked up for a second season on Amazon. And like she mentioned, people are happy for her.
