‘She Get it From Her Momma!: Tracee Ellis Ross Flaunts Natural Hair and Makeup In New Photo

Hours after hosting this year’s Oscars nominee ceremony, actress Tracee Ellis Ross took down her hair and makeup to reveal her natural self.

On Tuesday, Feb. 8, the “black-ish” star shared a stunning short video of herself looking into the camera, admiring her natural beauty. She captioned the two-second clip with a cloud emoji. The wind softly blows through her brushed-out hair, although she doesn’t say a word.

Tracee Ellis Ross joined Ulta Beauty last February as the brand’s Diversity and Inclusion advisor.

Fans in Ross’ comments weren’t afraid to compliment and celebrate Ross for sharing her purest version of herself.

“My girls in the clouds,” one person wrote, while a second said, “Love you. Natural hair. Simply beautiful and priceless.”

A third complimented Ross’ “gorgeousness,” adding, “It can’t be easy vibrating that high, but you make it look beautiful.”

Comparing the 48-year-old to her gorgeous mother, Diana Ross, one person wrote, “She get it from her momma! Diana is the [GOAT emoji].” Another said, “Natural beauty… just like [your] mom.”

Many continued to shower the Pattern Beauty founder with dozens of fire emojis and compliments about her “beautiful” hair, adding, “Big hair don’t care.” Another said, “Come through hair.”

One person referred to Ross as “Aunty Joan,” in reference to her time on the 2000s sitcom, “Girlfriends.” From 2000-2008, Ross portrayed Joan Clayton, a Black attorney who embraced her naturally curly hair. In an Ad Week interview last year, she said she noticed “‘Black girl magic’ did not exist” and neither nor did “the natural hair movement,” especially after the show ended.

She told AD Week, “And that was when I had a clear idea, brand promise, and mission of the company to meet the needs of the curly, coily-type texture community, to be an active space that is centered around Black beauty and celebrates authentic beauty.”

By 2019, Ross got focused and launched Pattern beauty products. The natural hair-care line offers shampoos, conditioners, hair serums, oils and more hair tools, available at Sephora, Target, and Ulta Beauty locations.
