‘How Old Are You for Real?’: Phaedra Parks’ Fans are Taken Aback by the Star’s Ageless Appearance

Phaedra Parks blew fans away on Tuesday, Jan. 4, after uploading a fashion video displaying how she plans to approach the new year.

In the Instagram post, the former reality star first appeared on the screen with a full face, a bathrobe and a hair towel. As the clip continued, Parks began mouthing a verse from Silk Sonic’s “Smoking Out The Window” before dropping her body on the floor. Silk Sonic is an R&B group that includes performers Bruno Mars and Anderson.Paak.

Following the scene when Parks purposely dropped to the floor in what looks like her bathroom, she then reemerges on camera by opening the door. The recording wraps up with the star, dressed in all-black attire, doing various poses after stepping over where her fallen body previously laid.

In addition to the video, Parks captioned the post, “Stepping into 2022 like…#Mood.” As fans began to view Parks’ upload, many flooded her comments section with compliments over her youthful appearance.

“Nah cause how old are you for real? 31? look at the skinnnnn.”

“Stepping into 2022 looking like you’re 22.”

“Damn Phaedra are you reversing time?”

“Chille…..how IS YOU aging backwards!!! Love it Queen!!!”

“This Phaedra is everything…confident, hotter and looking like you 30…wowwww.”

Among the positive remarks about Parks appearing ageless, others raved about how beautiful she looked in the video. One wrote, “That’s how you eat the girls up!!” Another said, “COME ON THRU SOUTHERN Bell.” In the past, Parks revealed that drinking lots of water helped her maintain her ageless features.

She told Bravo’s Lookbook in 2016 when disclosing her beauty secrets, “I drink no less than a gallon and a half of water every day. I like to mix fresh lemons and ginger in my water, sometimes a little cucumber. But I love ginger,” she continued, adding that it has “great medicinal properties to it as well. That’s my inside secret, just drinking a lot of water.”

Still independent.

We hope this story was worth your time. For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed Black-owned and independently run. We didn't get here by waiting on ad budgets that were never built to prioritize us. Our readers did that.

Corporate support for Black media has always been thin. Outlets like ours get roughly 1% of the $170 billion spent on U.S. advertising each year, and that margin is shrinking further as advertisers walk back the DEI-linked commitments they made in 2020. That's the backdrop. It's not why we're asking.

The wider picture isn't any steadier. Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under, it's rarely the ones built to center a Black perspective from the ground up that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
