‘They’re Working on the Script Right Now’: Keke Palmer Is Spending the Holidays with Her Man and Still Waiting on That ‘Sister Act 3’ Call

Keke Palmer is looking forward to spending a quiet holiday with her boo while continuing to put positive vibes out into the world in hopes of manifesting a role in “Sister Act 3.”

The outspoken star, who already proved the power of manifestation when she landed a part on “Insecure” after letting show creator Issa Rae know she was more than interested, shot her career shot with “Sister Act” legend Whoopi Goldberg when she appeared on “The View” in November. Disney announced in 2019 that the third film in the series was in development with Goldberg set to return as Deloris Van Cartier. With a few updates have been shared since, Palmer asked Goldberg to keep her in mind for “any job” on the film.

“Now, Whoopi, I gotta shoot my shot, like I did with Issa [Rae] a little bit ago. I heard that Tyler Perry is doing ‘Sister Act 3,’ and I just want you to know that I’m available for the job. Any job,” she said. “I mean, you ain’t got to say nothing now, you know. I’ll send you an email or something. Just let me know if you need me.”

Goldberg confirmed to the “Akeelah and the Bee” actress she’s already “brought up” her name in conversations, replying, “I already brought it up. Come on, Keke.”

As excited as she would be to work with a legend like Whoopi, Palmer admitted that she is still waiting to hear from the studio, however. “I was just so thankful that she would be thinking of me because these are things that we all grew up on, franchise pieces that people such as myself have worked many years to get the opportunity to be a part of,” she told “Entertainment Tonight.”

She continued, “And to be able to work with Whoopi herself, I mean, Whoopi is a blueprint of so much of who I am today, so to get the opportunity to work with her — especially on something that I remember watching and loving and studying in my church before I even became an entertainer — is very special.

She added, “So, I know they’re working on the script right now and I haven’t heard anything just yet, but I’m hoping that I do. And if I don’t, it was still just awesome that she thought of me.”

While she’s patiently waiting on that call to come in, Palmer plans on relaxing and spending the holidays with her family and her man, fellow actor Darius Daulton Jackson.

“I work literally most of every year so when it comes to the holidays, that’s my time to just really be with my family,” she said. “That is literally the tradition, just hang out, watch TV, eat, laugh, talk, and be thankful for one another. Life can be so difficult and we just want to share those moments of gratitude. They really refuel me for the next year coming up.”

Palmer’s relationship with Jackson marks the first one she’s publicly shared with her fans. The two have been posting each other on social media since August, and reportedly met while attending Issa Rae and Diddy’s Memorial Day party in May. Jackson is the younger brother of “Insecure” and “Games People Play” actor Sarunas Jackson.
