Tia Mowry took to Instagram on Saturday, Oct. 30, to reveal the meaning behind her children’s names, while getting a new tattoo.
Mowry has two children, a son Cree Hardrict, 10, and a 3-year-old daughter named Cairo Hardrict with her husband, Cory Hardrict.
In the Instagram post, Mowry — who uploaded a clip of herself getting a tattoo of Cairo’s name on her left arm — disclosed that she and her husband decided to call their children something that began with a letter “C” in honor of Cory’s name during the selection process.
She began, “Finding the right names for both my children were so important to me. Cory and myself did not take this task lightly. We wanted to name our children with the letter C because Cory’s name starts with a C. Together, we named our children Cree and Cairo.”
The actress followed up that explanation by adding the significant meaning behind Cree and Cairo. Mowry said,” Cree were a tribe of Native Americans who were warriors that traveled the world. Cairo means one who is victorious.”
Mowry wrapped up her post by saying that she tattooed her children’s names on her body because she wanted something permanent to display the joy she has being their mother. She wrote, “I wanted something forever, so I decided to get tattoos. Cree is tattooed near my rib where he hung close to my heart during pregnancy and Cairo on my left arm as the vein to your heart is near the left arm.”
As fans began to view Mowry’s touching post, many of them marveled over her new body of ink, in addition to the rib tattoo she has for her son, Cree.
“This is so beautiful.”
“Love it.”
“Beautiful and I love names with meaning.”
“I love this so much!!”
