The old saying “beauty is pain” proved to be true for Marlo Hampton. The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” friend of the show took to Instagram Live to reveal that she had gotten a hair transplant which resulted in a side effect that took her fans by surprise. A swollen face. During the now-deleted Instagram Live, which ultimately turned into a Q&A, Hampton explained she got the procedure done to grow out her edges.
A hair transplant is a surgical procedure where a plastic or dermatological surgeon moves hair to a thinning or balding area of one’s head.The price for a hair transplant varies from $4,000 to $15,000.
The 45-year-old said at mark 0.33 she’s being so transparent about her surgery because everybody shares “everything that’s so beautiful” about going under the knife.
Hampton continued by saying she will go into more detail about the surgery on her YouTube page: “I had a hair transplant for my edges y’all. So all the fluids and all that is just coming down to my face. Ain’t this s–t crazy.”
She added how much pain she’s been in since having the procedure last week. “I’ve been in so much pain from the hair transplant. But I’m so excited about it. And I just wanted to keep it really real with you guys be transparent and let y’all see the good, the ugly and the things we go through for beauty.”
Hampton then went on to describe what viewers will see on her channel as she displayed her swollen face and black eyes, “I will tell you more about on my YouTube. But I wanted you at least just to see this…I’m gonna let y’all know when I arrived to the doctor to when I got in the chair. I’m going to let you guys go through the whole entire process on my YouTube.”
The “RHOA” star wrapped up that portion of the conversation by stating the footage will be coming out this week without disclosing the exact day because she is waiting for her management team to come back into town and edit the videos.
During the Live she disclosed how long the procedure took, which was estimated 8 to 10 hours. She also shared that in order to undergo the procedure she had to shave the back of her head. Hampton said as she physically demonstrated what took place by pointing on each side of her head, “They took the razor and they shaved the back and they cut it. They put it in like a bowl and they took like the little pieces of hair–and they sit and inject holes like a thousand on this side. Thousand over here. And they just inject them all in my head.”
As images and clips from Hampton’s live became viral, countless people expressed how unnecessary the procedure was.
