‘I’m Sorry If I Offended U’: DaniLeigh Issues an Apology After Receiving Backlash for an Upcoming Song Titled ‘Yellow Bone,’ Rapper Chika Calls it ‘Terrible’

Singer DaniLeigh found herself in a heap of trouble after sharing a snippet of an upcoming song titled “Yellow Bone.” The 26-year-old seemingly only made matters worse for herself after she released a not-so sorry apology.

The drama unfolded Thursday evening, Jan. 21, after the “Lil Bebe” singer shared a clip of the track in a now-deleted post on Instagram. Chaos ensued almost instantly in her comments section, with many disapproving of the record.

Dani caught wind of the commotion and questioned why she couldn’t “make a song for my light skin baddies??” She added, “Why y’all think I’m hating on other colors when there are millions of songs speak on all types… why y’all so sensitive and take it personal.. gahhh damn 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️.”

The Miami native later delivered an apology in a series of tweets on Twitter. “Congratulations y’all gotta another thing to say about me when u hate … it’s all good .. only God can ‘cancel’ me… that shit don’t mean shit to me bc the people around me are the ones that know my heart and intention and real-life … I’m sorry if I offended u,” one post read.

Dani expressed that she was Dominican, Spanish, Black and white and that the song was about her and not “what the world want.” She warned fans to “leave me alone.” In another post, the singer reminded users that they didn’t know her in “real life.” She added, “Ima keep letting God bless me.. while y’all sit back and judge me && sit behind y’all lil phones and type sh-t about another woman.. y’all HATERS.” Those tweets, too, have all since been deleted.

Dani’s attempt at smoothing things over with social media users did not go well. Rapper and actress Chika quoted one of Dani’s tweets and called her justification “a terrible response to valid criticism.”

In a follow-up tweet, she wrote, “no shade. as a black woman, you should be more than aware of colorism & why this song wouldn’t sit well with a black audience.” She added, “It doesn’t feel good having a billion people at your neck, but it’s not about being ‘canceled.’ it’s about taking accountability.”

“Girl how you gonna try to victimize yourself and throw a backhand apology on top of it??? 💀💀,” another expressed.

The backlash continued on social media, where many people accused the singer of creating the song as a jab toward MeMe, the former partner and mother of his oldest daughter of her on-and-off-again boyfriend rapper DaBaby. The two women have been engulfed in an ongoing feud for some time now.

“Dani Leigh made that song towards Da Baby’s baby momma and she knows she did,” one Twitter user wrote. “But she wanna throw that dumb ass’ skin positivity’ bitch no you’re colorist. Atp go to hell. Disrespectfully. And take Da baby I’m tired of the remixes and dumb ass flow.”

Another person commented, “Not you saying this like both the mother of his children aren’t of darker complexion….”
