‘It Broke My Heart’: Meagan Good Offers Expanded Story About Reason for Her Lighter Skin Complexion

When Meagan Good made her debut on “The Doctors” at the beginning of the year to discuss her eyebrow transplants, fans couldn’t help but notice that her skin complexion seemed to be a few shades lighter. At the time, Good never addressed the accusations, so some fans assumed that the 38-year-old actress was altering her appearance.

Good addressed the rumors that she bleaches her skin in an Instagram comment that dates back to May 17. An IG user claimed Good looked lighter than usual. The California native responded by saying she had used a product to correct a sun damage mark on the recommendation of an unlicensed aesthetician.

A few people were left wondering how her entire face seemingly looked different instead of just the mark. On Thursday, May 21, Good went into far more detail with the story behind her visibly lighter skin in an interview with Ashley Dunn of the IGTV show “Where Is The Buzz.”

“It broke my heart to think that there’s little girls seeing this commentary and thinking it’s true,” Good told Dunn. “It broke my heart that in a season when you have young Black men and women being murdered everywhere that someone would think for one second that I don’t love my Black skin. That bothered me. And when it all first happened, it was extremely traumatic because I went to this woman for a scar removal, like a dog bite on my leg. And you know, she said, Try my products. I think you have a little sun damage on your forehead.’ And I said, ‘No, that’s OK. That’s like natural contour, girl. It’s great. It’s fine,’” she said.

Good revealed that she tried the aesthetician’s anti-aging products and found her creams were phenomenal. After using her products, she found out the aesthetician was unlicensed. Good expressed that it was not a big deal to her, because the aesthetician’s products worked wonderfully.

The “Think Like Man” actress told the host that by this point she trusted the aesthetician to fix her sun damage. She recalled that the aesthetician told her to spread the products on her face. “I started freaking out and I said, ‘What’s going on?’” Good said. “And she said, ‘Oh no, no. It’s just going to lift the damage first and then everything will come back.’ And I said, ‘Oh OK, cool.’ And I saw myself getting lighter. And I was like, ‘What is happening?!’ And she was like, ‘Oh, don’t worry, your color will come back.’ And I said, ‘But when is it going to come back?’ She said, ‘It’ll come back soon, I promise.’”

Some Instagram users who watched the interview commented on how they admired Good for speaking out about the skin bleaching accusations.

“She looks the same to me still beautiful😍.”

“I looove her she is so beautiful and genuine.”

Good says she went to a dermatologist to fix her skin. She claims as of now she is only 80 percent through recovery and is regaining her color daily.
