‘You Look Better Thicker’: Evelyn Lozada’s Drastic Weight Loss Surprises Fans

Evelyn Lozada is showing a lot less of herself these days. The star of VH1’s “Basketball Wives” posted a new photo to her Instagram page Monday, and fans swiftly took notice of her disappearing waistline.

“Love sweater weather ❤️🙏🏽” Lozada captioned her Nov. 18 image in part.

Initially, fans of the reality star couldn’t help but pile on the praise for her.

“Body is everything!!!! 🔥🔥🔥”

“Snatched to the heavens @evelynlozada 💣”

“U look sooo amazing inside and out I rocks with you E! @evelynlozada 💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥😍 #PhyneAfroLatinaQueen 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿”

“Omg i freaking hate you…. you are sooooo damn cute i can’t stand it….. on a side note… trully love you… your body is goals for me…. #evelynsbodyismotivation”

“@evelynlozada how can I get my waist snatched like yours !!!! 🔥🔥”

But soon, remarks about her supposed too-small size began to trickle in.

“Put 10 pounds back on, you look better thicker”

“@king_4_the_day_ 💯💯💯. Agree,” another fan replied.

“Lookin a little too skinny…. keep those Latina curves…. looks like you been sleepin in Kim K’s corset.”

“Ughhhhh you’re too skinny now.”

It’s far from the first time that Lozada has been the focus of remarks criticizing her ever-shrinking waist.

In February, the “Basketball Wives” star’s photo in a flowy white outfit caught her followers’ attention after she looked noticeably smaller than before.

“Wayyy to skinny! Still pretty tho❤️”

“What happened to your ass?”

However, a photo of a bikini-clad, sun-kissed Lozada that she shared to Instagram in August left fans begging her to share her secrets to staying slim.

“Please post your workout regimen. You look amazing!!!”

“You always look so ‘together’ and happy. Thank you so much for just being such a positive influence for Latino Women. You are such a sweet person with a beautiful personality. God Bless You!”

“No offense to J. Lo. I love her, but you @evelynlozada are killing her babe. You got it all the way around. Body of a Godess Keep being you and staying beautiful.”

Lozada also wound up taking on a question from a fan who was curious about how her belly got so flat.

“Did you Eva get a tummy tuck or working out was all needed or was your stomach always flat ?” the fan asked.

“@delreyrina Never got a tummy tuck… Stomach been pretty flat most of my life. Training & not eating too much crap helps too,” Lozada replied.

Still independent.

We hope this story was worth your time. For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed Black-owned and independently run. We didn't get here by waiting on ad budgets that were never built to prioritize us. Our readers did that.

Corporate support for Black media has always been thin. Outlets like ours get roughly 1% of the $170 billion spent on U.S. advertising each year, and that margin is shrinking further as advertisers walk back the DEI-linked commitments they made in 2020. That's the backdrop. It's not why we're asking.

The wider picture isn't any steadier. Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under, it's rarely the ones built to center a Black perspective from the ground up that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
