‘Baby Boy Kicking My A–‘: Keyshia Cole Suggests She’s Suffering New Mom Fatigue After Having Newborn Son

It looks like Keyshia Cole and her boyfriend Niko “Khale” Hale may be feeling the effects of being new parents.

The 37-year-old singer delivered her newborn son earlier this month and has been pretty low-key about new motherhood until recently. She took to her Instagram story Thursday, August 22, and shared a meme of Daisy Duck, a cartoon character, pouring herself a cup of coffee seemingly after a long night of no sleep.

Cole apparently related to the post, suggesting that her newborn son was keeping her up all night.

“F–king moooood,” she wrote across the image with a laughing emoji. “Baby boy, kicking my a–.”

Last week, the “Heaven Sent” artist seemingly trolled fans with a photo of a baby which could’ve easily been mistaken as her newborn. She shared a picture of the child’s legs and feet, cropping out his or her head.

Cole, 37, and Hale, 23, have yet to give any details about their son, keeping his name and physical identity concealed. The pair welcomed their newborn and first child together Thursday, August 1.

The second-time mother, who shares 10-year-old son Daniel Gibson Jr. with estranged husband and former NBA player Daniel Gibson, first announced her pregnancy in May and confirmed weeks later she was having a baby boy.

“Surrounded by Loooooooooove❤️ Just enjoying good times and GREAT VIBES 🤰🏽, ” she wrote, adding a photo of her protruding belly. “I’m ready for ALL THE Love and GREAT ENERGY.”

Fans threw fits of glee after learning news of the star’s newest addition to her family.

“Omg 😮 🎉 😍 Congratulations 🎈 praying nothing but the best for you ❤️,” one fan wrote at the time.

Another added, “Awwwwh that baby gonna be so cute ☺️ Congratulations!!!! 👶🏽 @keyshiacole @nikokhale.”

Cole’s fans will get an opportunity to witness her pregnancy journey on her new untitled reality show slated to appear on BET. Details, such as the premiere date of the new series, have yet to be released. Her biological mother, Frankie Lons, will appear on the show, and people will also get a chance to learn more about Hale.

Cole’s and Hale’s newborn son is their first child together.

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
