Saturday, June 8, marks National Best Friends Day, in which folks around the nation can recognize the pals that lift us up when we’re down and tell it like it is when we need to hear about ourselves. Sometimes, however, friendships have their ups and downs, and that goes for celebrities, too. Still, true best friends can manage to work things out, and that’s just what the following five pairs of celebrity buddies did.
Kandi Burruss and Tamar Braxton — “Celebrity Big Brother”
Kandi Burruss and Tamar Braxton’s decades-long issues came to a head when Braxton performed with Burruss’ group Xscape on New Year’s Eve 2017. Braxton invited Khia and Ts Madison on stage after they had made disparaging remarks about Xscape. That led security to give the women the boot.
Burruss and Tamar remained at odds ever since until they wound up needing each other on “Celebrity Big Brother” this year. They formed an alliance and by the end of the competition the two became friends. Since then, their relationship has continued to blossom.
“We got it back because we wanted it. We wanted to make amends more than we wanted to fight, and that’s for the both of us,” Braxton told Entertainment Weekly in February.
Tiny Harris and Shekinah Anderson — “T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle”
Tiny Harris and Shekinah Anderson have been pals for years, but in 2017 the Jasmine Brand reported that a feud between Anderson and a mutual friend severed their relationship. Harris and Anderson unfollowed each other on Instagram, and it seemed as if years of companionship had been flushed down the toilet.
But in fall 2018, the pair seemed to have rekindled their friendship with a video of the two acting chummy being uploaded on Instagram.
“Having a little safe fun with my damn buddy @thatshekinah 👑” Harris captioned her clip. Anderson captioned the post, “Me and my ace @majorgirl what y’all thought!!!???? 🤪.”
Phaedra Parks and Porsha Williams — “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”
After Phaedra Parks spread a rumor on season 9 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” that Kandi Burruss wanted to drug and rape Porsha Williams, the days of Parks and Williams being known as pals Frick and Frack were effectively over.
However, in the years since then, the two have reconciled, and fans took notice when Williams left comments gassing up Parks over her looks. One moment came back in January when Williams commented on Parks’ apparently disappearing waistline saying, “What waist.” Parks appreciated the praise and wrote back, “Thanks sis 😘”
Ryan Henry and Van Johnson — “Black Ink: Chicago”
Van Johnson and Ryan Henry were best pals at the start of
“Black Ink Crew: Chicago,” but during season 3, their relationship soured after Johnson claimed Henry got a big head when he shot to stardom from reality TV. The next season saw the pair’s relationship remain strained, but sometime before season 5, the pair had made up.
“I DO NOT HAVE BAD BLOOD WITH RYAN HIS FAMILY OR FRIENDS,” Johnson said on Instagram last year. “I ONLY WANT THE BEST FOR LOYAL INK AND 9MAG.”
The pair also made things right on-screen after nearly coming to blows at a party.
“I hate that its gotten to this point with me and you,” Johnson told Henry after meeting him at the tattoo shop. “I have to say whatever I said about you, but I said it and [I] apologize to you. I love you. … I appreciate you hearing me out. … I forgive you and hopefully, you forgive me.”
Jackie Christie and Tami Roman — “Basketball Wives”
Season 6 of “Basketball Wives” kicked off with drama between Jackie Christie and Tami Roman, who later alleged Christie threw her under the bus when she dropped her name to Evelyn Lozada. Christie later crashed Roman’s book signing, and Roman was not pleased with her apology and gift.
By the following season, however, the two let bygones be bygones and Roman even employed Christie to help her boyfriend Reggie Youngblood plan the perfect proposal.
