‘Tay Is Not Here for It:’: Fans Peep Overt Shade Tamar Braxton Throws With Contractually Obligated Promo of ‘Braxton Family Values’

Tamar Braxton is over “Braxton Family Values,” and she’s not afraid to show it.

Ahead of the show airing Thursday night, Braxton posted a lackluster message on Instagram encouraging fans to watch her family’s WEtv reality show.

“Oh yea…. watch that show on @wetv at 9pm,” the singer wrote in the May 16 post. She added a simple shrugging emoji in the caption accompanied by the hashtag #bfv.

Braxton’s issue with the show stems from her onscreen portrayal, beginning with her interactions with Traci Braxton after Tamar invited her on tour. After the sisters had patched up their relationship, Traci’s manager Cliff Jones got into a heated confrontation with Tamar’s business coordinator LeTroy Davis, which followed Jones, whom Tamar has accused of making trouble before, initially being banned from the Sony Music Hall concert in New York City. He was later allowed to simply take in his client’s performance.

Tamar has also been firing off on Twitter about her issues with how she’s seen on the show. Last month, she tweeted and deleted several posts on the matter.

“Smh… man, I’m going to bed…. i have a headache. Me and my ex started and FUNDED this show all to have NOTHING to do with the control of it 10 yrs later… this is DISGUSTING,” she said.

“I’m over it🙄” she said in another tweet. “I’m not trying to be funny but I’m not here for it AT ALL!! Y’all gon be pretty pissed next week!! They back to LYING and twisting stories!! It’s sooo stressful and not fun anymore 🙄🙄”

With that in mind, fans sounded off on Tamar’s unenthusiastic encouragement for fans to tune into the series.

“When you gotta promo but don’t feel like it…🤷🏾‍♀️😩😂When you gotta promo but don’t feel like it…🤷🏾‍♀️😩😂”

“lmfaooo definitely an obligation cause Tay is NOT here for it😭😭”

“This was a whole shade forest and I am here for it lol.”

“I watch to support… but I’ve always disliked how they edit to make something look like something it ain’t. Keep shining Ms Tamar.. God bless you and your family.”

“That show seems to always make @tamarbraxton out to be the bad guy. No matter what she does right, she is still the bad guy. I would be sick of #thatshow also…”

Presently, Braxton is busy hitting the road with pal and fellow “Celebrity Big Brother” alum Kandi Burruss on the latter singer’s “Dungeon” tour, which concludes later this month.

Independent journalism doesn't fund itself.

We hope this story was worth your time. For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed Black-owned and independently run. We didn't get here by waiting on ad budgets that were never built to prioritize us. Our readers did that.

Corporate support for Black media has always been thin. Outlets like ours get roughly 1% of the $170 billion spent on U.S. advertising each year, and that margin is shrinking further as advertisers walk back the DEI-linked commitments they made in 2020. That's the backdrop. It's not why we're asking.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
