Blame it on the Alcohol: Tamar Braxton Explains Brief Break Up With Boyfriend During Napa Valley Trip

Tamar Braxton alarmed fans last week when she cryptically posted on Instagram that she was “single” and “ready to mingle.” But at the April 2 season 6 premiere event for “Braxton Family Values,” she affirmed she and boyfriend David Adefeso are going strong and explained what led to their brief split.

“Well, you know — ahem — we was in Napa, it was a lot of wine happening,” Braxton tells “Entertainment Tonight” Tuesday. “I was in my feelings, and we broke up for, like, 20 minutes. But now we’re back together, stronger than ever.”

Braxton was having a family/couples trip in Napa Valley last week in part to celebrate her birthday. The singer went on Instagram Live during a group dinner and looked visibly annoyed as Adefeso discussed her namesake beverage at sister Trina Braxton’s restaurant Bar Chix. Adding to her irritation was Trina getting engaged during the meal.

Afterward, Tamar posted on her Instagram Story, “I’m single…ready to mingle tho.💕☘ ” She also posted a warning on her page saying “Trust No ONE.”

While the former post expired, the latter still remains on her profile.

Regardless, the couple of nearly 10 months are back together and in love. They made their red carpet debut together during the season premiere party for Tamar’s We TV reality show with her family.

The star told “ET” that after some hesitation she decided to let viewers in on her relationship with Adefeso, a financial firm CEO.

“I thought long and hard about it,” she says. “I mean, it’s what my life is about, so why not? We’re not hiding anything, so why not?”

Meanwhile, fans have been making their thoughts known about Tamar’s 20-minute breakup and reunion with her Nigerian Harvard Business School-graduate beau. Many have been remarking on rumors that Braxton initially split from her man because he tried to scam her. Those reports have not been substantiated, however.

“I thought they split because he was a scammer.”

“Is this the same one you just broke up with bc you said he was a scammer?”

“Happy that the Nigerian is not a ‘scammer’ afterall.”

“@mslorelltoyou she never said that and if he was a ‘scammer’ she wouldn’t even be with him.”
