‘Thought You Were Gaga’: Ashanti Gets Mistaken for Lady Gaga in Latest Photo

Fans accidentally confused R&B artist Ashanti for mega pop-star Lady GaGa in one of the “Rain on Me” singer’s latest concerts pictures.

In the fashion world, both Ashanti and GaGa would seemingly be placed into two different style categories, but fans, on the other hand, tend to view the matter differently. The “U Say, I Say” singer took to Instagram on Tuesday with a photo of herself onstage amid her tour performance at the Warfield Theater Pomona in San Francisco on Sunday, Feb. 17. Her stage attire included a rhinestone-embellished black blazer with matching bottoms and a bralette, flesh-colored fishnet stockings, and black thigh-high boots.

Ashanti accessorized her ensemble with gold heart-locked necklace and black oversized sunglasses. She also opted for her notorious short platinum-blond haircut. She captioned the image “Lemme hear that y’all I can’t hear youuuu!” and added, “The way that I love you.”

Many fans of the R&B diva misidentified her as GaGa, who’s known for her signature pale blond hair and dark oversized “stunner” shades. Ashanti’s over-the-top stage attire also reminded folks of GaGa’s avant-garde fashions.

“Wow I thought Ashanti was Lady Gaga for a minute,” one fan who was shocked by their resemblance wrote. “That’s crazy.”

“B–ch I thought u were lady gaga,” a second user commented.

“I thought this was GaGa for a sec lol,” a third added.

Ashanti is currently on tour with former Murder Inc. label mate rapper Ja Rule, and will be making their way to a total of five remaining cities on the tour, including: Indio, California; Seattle; Lexington, Kentucky; West Haven, Connecticut; Atlanta; Edmonton, Canada; and Lommel, Belgium.

They music duo will perform their Billboard charting duets like “Down 4 U,” “What’s Luv” and a few others. Their “Ashanti & Ja Rule” tour initially kicked off on Valentine’s Day in Los Angeles, but will end overseas on June 29.
