‘Chasing the Apollo Type’? Phaedra Parks’ New Romance Draws Comparisons to ‘RHOA’ Alum’s Ex Apollo Nida

As Phaedra Parks basks in her newfound love with Tone Kapone, former “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Claudia Jordan has stepped in to put a damper on things.

Jordan took to the comments section of a celebrity news website’s Instagram page and remarked about Parks’ romance with the Chicago-based radio and TV personality.

“Mannnnn but just days before nye he was telling my girl SHE’s his ‘wife’ and he loves her! Tired of biting my tongue,” the “RHOA” star-turned-radio host said over the weekend. “Matter of fact we all spoke on a 3 way and he was all in. Someone tell mr. Kapone they don’t pay the men on RHOA! Only for the reunion run Phaedra! He for everybody!”

Parks and Kapone issued responses of their own on their respective pages, making it clear that Jordan, according to them, did not have her facts straight.

“‘Not For Everybody'” just for her,” Kapone said Jan. 19 with a photo of the couple.

Parks later backed up her man by writing on Instagram, “What he said,” accompanied by a smug selfie.

“yesssss sis when they dry and thirsty try it honey,” the Atlanta-based attorney added when pal Nene Leakes encouraged her.phaeda parks

The remark was later deleted from the page at Jordan’s request, but she told a commenter she still stood by what she said regardless.

And despite what Parks and Kapone have to say, fans believe Kapone may have some things in common with the RHOA alum’s ex-husband Apollo Nida — like being a supposed opportunist. Nida is currently serving an eight-year prison sentence on charges of conspiring to commit mail, wire and bank fraud.

“Bosslady is right!why not dm her if you really care?!!!!! Claudia act like she wants him!it’s not even her situation! Anyway Pheadra again chasing the Apollo type! something wrong with her! 😲😭😭😭😭! She got kids she shouldn’t be having no man till the kids are 18. Or man that are stable serious. This guy gives me only Apollo view….drama player.”

“Phaedra parks prefer guys like this dude there, first Apollo and now Tone, am not feeling it, wish her all the best finally JESUS has fix it.”

“It’s ok Phaedra it’s just going to play dumb like she did in her last relationship with Apollo when she said I didn’t know he was doing all this fraudulent stuff and all of this cheating .. well let’s see how long does it takes for it to be true 💅💅💅”

Still independent.

We hope this story was worth your time. For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed Black-owned and independently run. We didn't get here by waiting on ad budgets that were never built to prioritize us. Our readers did that.

Corporate support for Black media has always been thin. Outlets like ours get roughly 1% of the $170 billion spent on U.S. advertising each year, and that margin is shrinking further as advertisers walk back the DEI-linked commitments they made in 2020. That's the backdrop. It's not why we're asking.

The wider picture isn't any steadier. Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under, it's rarely the ones built to center a Black perspective from the ground up that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
