Jill Scott has officially been a single woman for nearly two months now and she’s got a list of things she won’t accept in her next relationship.
The “Golden” singer finalized a nasty divorce from her ex-husband Michael Dobson in August and it looks as if she’s got a good idea of what she doesn’t want to see in her new man once she settles down again.
Reposting a list from the Instagram account @naturalhairrules, the memo wrote out “5 ways to not be used.”
They included believing in patterns and not apologies, believing red flags and knowing your worth.
The overall theme was encouraging others not to settle for less than they deserve.
“For you. For me. For US. Love You. #beenontheotherside #fdatsht #yourtime #dontwasteit,” Scott wrote in the caption.
“Note – Your standards are not everyone else’s,” she added in a caption. “I won’t do Uncle Daddies – the ones that call every now and then; who see their children a few times a year. THAT is one I just don’t respect. Lack of respect is a dry bobby. I prefer a juicy existence. Ya dig? Or someone who is disrespectful to their parents. Nor can I do broke/broken yet comfortable. Nah. Write YOUR list. Sometimes it’s better to know what you don’t want.”
Fans ate up her words.
“Yes I’m loving it true statements. Blessings.”
“Gm @missjillscott #Yasssssssss I needed to #read this. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 Thanks & #LuvU more. 🤗 Have a #great day.”
“Yes, yes, yes!! That number 1 is how I always catch them but if I followed that number 2 I wouldn’t get to that point.”
“Don’t fall in love with potential that’s so spicy 🌶 💋😘”
Scott was married to Dobson for just 15 months before filing to split from him last November. She cited “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct that such further cohabitation would be unsafe and improper” as the reason for the marriage ending. The following accusations that Scott and Dobson hurled at one another was foul, to say the least.
