Future Fans Defend Rapper After Folks Compare His Parenting to Ciara’s Husband Russell Wilson

A video of rapper Future bonding with his son has fans taking aim at his parenting skills while boosting up those of Russell Wilson.

Future uploaded a quick clip of himself playfully asking baby Future about his tattoos, which appear to be stickers.

“Let me see your tattoos,” Future says. “I told you don’t get no tattoos. You don’t need ’em.”

Seeing the 4-year-old boy in faux tattoos made fans tear into him over his parenting skills compared to his ex-fiancé Ciara’s husband Wilson.

“Russell come get your son.”

“He’s a whole different child when he’s with ratchet daddy. Daddy Russell, come save baby future from this confusion 🤦🏽‍♀️.”

“See he’s not doing all this with Russell 🤦🏿‍♀️”

“Russell is fuming right now 😂”

“This is why he needs to stay with his dad Russell, future up here teaching the boy about tattoos while his dad is teaching him to play sports and cook 🤦🏽‍♀️”

“Now he wants to activate in baby future life I’m not buying it.”

Still, other fans came to the rapper’s defense.

“@77tinamarie Why so negative on Future?? Despite what type of dad you think he is, he is still Lil Future’s Dad. And Lil Future will grow up wanting to be just like him. #WhySoNegative.”

“People want this little boy to hate his real father so bad, but forget they were all for Future & Ciara when they were together but clowned Russell & his white wife at one point. NEVER forget little black Boys can only be raised by black men 🤷🏿‍♀️ Y’all weird.”

“Yall hella disrespectful calling Russell the father of this child. Future is the father give him that respect period.”

Earlier this year, Ciara and Future went to court after Ciara wanted to adjust their son’s travel schedule and claimed the rapper skipped out on time he needed to spend with their child.

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
