Singer Ray J. was trending on social media after his encounter with Safaree Samuels on “Love and Hip Hop: Hollywood” and it wasn’t for the reason people are thinking.
During an intense scene with the “One Wish” singer pressing Samuels and his involvement with Lyrica Anderson, viewers noticed that Ray J.’s hat was doing a quite bit of movement. So much that his traveling beanie inspired the “Ray J. Hat Challenge.”
One viewer wrote on Twitter Monday evening, “ARE WE GOING TO IGNORE THE FACT THAT RAY J’s HAT MOVED LIKED 2,000 TIMES IN LIKE 10 SECONDS!!!! 😂.”

Even the reality star’s wife Princess Love did the “Hat Challenge” with their adorable baby girl Melody Norwood and fans absolutely had a field day. She wrote, “#RayJHatChallenge @melodylovenorwood and @iamsafaree 🤣 @rayj #LHHH.”
“Aaaww too cute 😂 ❤,” one fan wrote.
“Rotfl. This was funny!!! These shows got to do better with editing if they want to keep calling themselves “REALITY” shows,” another added.
“Word to gerber😭,” one person said.
Ray J. told TMZ on Tuesday that he blames “LHHH” producers for their lack of editing and said the scene between him and Samuels had to be shot multiple times.
“This hat thing is a new twist to reality,” Ray J. joked. “My hat and my head was trying to connect right and it was trying to get comfortable, but couldn’t find its way on the couch.”
The singer said in all reality he was drilling the “Hunnid” rapper for at least an hour to get him to admit his “wrongdoings” with Anderson. Ray J. said he and his hat were “stressing.”
He added, “This hat has a mind of it’s on.”
Ray J. was referring to the “LHHH” scene where Samuels admitted to crossing the line with Anderson and betraying their friend A1.
However, the episode has inspired countless hat memes and wig switch-ups.
