It looks like not partaking in eating Sunday dinners has paid off for Tamar Braxton as she’s looking fitter than ever these days.

After joining pal Tameka “Tiny” Cottle at the ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards Thursday to support the Xscape singer, Braxton took a moment to pan down her slim figure and told fans she lost over a dozen pounds.

“Yeah, I did lose 20 pounds, thanks,” Braxton wrote in the quick clip.

The outing must have been refreshing for both Braxton and Tiny, as the two — who have rekindled their friendship after butting heads over their mutual pal Toya Wright — have been embroiled in rumors and reports of cheating husbands in the last year.

For Braxton’s part, she’s been transforming ever since filing for divorce from Vincent Herbert last year. She stunned fans when she shaved her head bald in March, explaining she was “over feeling captive to a wig, weave, people, people’s comments & opinions hell…even my OWN feelings!”

Meanwhile, fans have been applauding the singer for her new waistline.

“20??!!! Omg where? Well, you definitely carried it well! Always on point!”

“Where??? And how? Yeen een have 20lbs to lose. So I’m confused.”

“You’d be stunning no matter what. It’s in your gene pool. Blessings not only today but always. For some reason, it’s tough for smaller women to lose weight. Idk where 20lbs come from for you to lose but you always look amazing. Meanwhile, I had my daughter six months ago and still can’t lose these last 5lbs. (Mind you I haven’t worked out but still go ahead and fall off like the rest of the weight did).”

“You look so amazing Tamar. I love you and I’m proud of you. You will always be my inspirational motivation 💯😎☺😃.”

“TAMAR, I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVEEW YOU and I’m sooooo proud of you!!!!! To me, you already looked Amazing before the weight loss 😘😍😍😍.”

“BAE IT SHOWS!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 CONGRATS TAY!!!! #SLAY4DAYZ.”

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
