The Golden State Warriors have developed one thing that the rest of the league is now going to have to take them seriously on…Defense.
This isn’t your typical Golden State team, which was the squad that tried to beat their opponents solely by outscoring them. As ESPN’s Ethan Sherwood Strauss highlighted last week, the Warriors have never ranked over 10th defensively in over 30 years.
That has changed dramastically for the team. For the first time in almost 50 years, the Warriors are using defense to win games. During this season so far, only four teams have held their opponents to fewer points per possession than Golden State.
Everybody knows that the Warriors franchise player Stephen Curry is an unstoppable scorer, but maybe now he’s becoming the face of a new defensive-minded team. All in all, the Warriors are among the top five teams in the league for the 2013-14 season.
