Rajon Rondo is getting used to the idea of having friends or teammates traded from the Boston Celtics. After taking the trade of his friend, Kendrick Perkins, to Oklahoma City two years ago very hard, he has learned that team switches are just part of the game.
Rondo was reportedly close to Kevin Garnett, so when the Boston Globe asked him how he felt on draft night when KG and Paul Pierce were traded to the Brooklyn Nets he said:
“It wasn’t difficult at all. I didn’t feel anything. I actually landed in L.A. the night of the draft. I had 45 text messages come through the phone. I thought I was traded. It’s not the first teammates that I’ve been close to who were traded away — Perk, Tony Allen. It’s part of the process. This is a fresh start for us, a new coach and a new team. I’m excited about the fresh start.”
Rondo says he and Brad Stevens “have become best friends” now that the others are gone.
