In February, Romeo Miller stunned fans after announcing that he was expecting his first child with longtime partner Drew Sangster and that the couple had welcomed a baby girl.
Miller and Sangster, who began dating in 2020, later revealed they kept the news a secret because the pair wanted to ensure their daughter had a safe arrival when entering the world. Since then, the 32-year-old has shared numerous posts with his daughter, whom he nicknamed baby R.
Although Miller has many supporters, the rapper disclosed during a recent interview with Page Six that he has received a lot of hate mail from women following the announcement of his daughter’s birth.
He told the publication on May 5, “I have lost a lot of fans. A lot of females sent me hate mail when I had my daughter because a lot of people felt like it was supposed to be them. And as crazy as that sounds, I kind of felt that pressure growing up.”
Miller added that the animosity could stem from the connection he had with fans growing up as a child star. “The Mix” co-host said, “Being a child star, you have a different connection with your fans. It’s like your fans are really a part of your life.” Miller also said because he grew up in the spotlight, he knew he wanted to find the right person before having a child.
“So I think that’s why it took so long [for me to have a child] because I was like when that day comes, I got to make sure it’s with the right person. It’s not just a moment that happened by accident, but it has to be with somebody who is truly deserving because it’s gonna break a lot of hearts out there.”
Toward the end of the conversation, Miller says that he would continue to live his life despite all the flak.
He explained, “I think that’s why I have such a cool fan base. I’ve been successful for over 20 years because I’m living my life. But I still think about those people that support me. But I got to live my life, y’all. I’m just saying. OK, so, yes, let’s just say I’m trying to have 50 kids. You never know. If I have 50 more kids, I’m gonna have no more fans.”
