Wendy Williams may have taken a break from television, but the talk show host is back with a new look and some exciting news about the return of her daytime talk show, “The Wendy Williams Show.”
In a video posted on the official Wendy Show Instagram account, the former radio host kicked off her announcement by thanking protesters and her fans for checking up on her. “It’s a hard time for all of us, but we’re all in this together as they say. Corona is on the rise. I want to shout out to the peaceful protestors. Also, thank you for giving me love and asking when I’m coming back,” Williams began. She added, “Our show is a part of phase four. Right now, in New York City, we are in phase three. I can’t wait to get back.”
While the 55-year-old Williams didn’t give an exact date for her television homecoming, she did double down on the topic of her return in another video posted to her Twitter account. Williams disclosed that she had no plans to continue her “Wendy@Home” format she was implementing before her leave of absence. Instead, she was following along with government orders as to when it would be safe enough to go back to her studios. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Williams has been filming the show from her New York City apartment in episodes called “Wendy@Home.”
“I’m waiting for the state of New York to say that we as a show can go back,” Williams explained. “I want to go back to doing our show. Nothing makes me happier than being Wendy on ‘The Wendy Show’ What I want the most is to be with you. I miss you. I miss you a lot.”
Nonetheless, fans were thrilled over the news and even took note of how gorgeous she appeared in her clip. One fan left a heartfelt message saying, “You tired from your house, and we/I appreciate that!!!! I am in full anticipation when phase 4 hits and your double doors open.” They added, “Much love to you, your staff and crew. You’ve always been my fav!!! I’m just a girl from Rochester that resides in ATL. Love your entire life!!! Say it like you mean it !!!”
A second fan commented, “You look amazing Wendy [two red heart emojis]. Can’t wait for you to get back to doing what you do best. How you doing.” While another replied, “Howudoin? You look beautiful Wendy! I’m glad you’re doing well.”
The news comes on the heels of Williams’ May 2020 statement that she was taking an indefinite hiatus from the show due to health challenges related to her Graves’ disease. In May 2018, a spokesperson for the show announced that Williams had been experiencing fatigue and other complications as a result of the illness.
