‘Basketball Wives’ Star Jackie Christie Opens Up About Her Fallout with Malaysia Pargo, Surviving Marriage During the Pandemic, and Her Brand-New Podcast

Jackie Christie may be married to retired Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard Doug Christie, but she is not an average wife. In addition to running an empire, the longtime cast member of “Basketball Wives” was filming season nine of the hit reality show before the pandemic and planning her annual vow-renewal ceremony. On Wednesday, May 27, Christie dished to Atlanta Black Star in an exclusive telephone interview about the upcoming season of the VH1 series, the key to sustaining a long-lasting marriage, and her latest podcast.

If you can recall, Christie and her co-star Malaysia Pargo fell out with each other during season 8 after a man from Atlanta contacted Christie on social media and allegedly implied that Pargo was broke and was not taking care of her children. Christie revealed the messages to a few of her castmates, including Evelyn Lozada, and the rumor eventually got back to Pargo. At Kristen Scott‘s ’90s-themed costume bash, Pargo and Christie got into a physical altercation.

When describing her current relationship with Pargo, Christie said, “Me and Malaysia have been on “Basketball Wives” together since the beginning. In 2011, we were cast in the L.A. version. And so she’s been a long-time person that I have nothing but a lot of love and concern for. But what happened on the show was real,” she said. “A lot of people are like, ‘Is that really real? Oh my God!’ And currently I can’t really speak on where we stand. I will say that everybody has to tune in for season nine. And I think a lot of people will be surprised, a lot of questions will be answered, and a lot of cans of worms are being opened,” she added.

While Christie couldn’t spill too many details about the upcoming season, she did mention that season nine “will be a great season as always.” The six- time bestselling author has been extremely busy during her shelter-in-place days, sharing that she and her husband are celebrating 25 years of marriage in July. The couple, who have renewed their vows every year since 1995, are not exactly sure what they are doing this year because of the COVID-19 outbreak. But Christie hinted that staying in the house hasn’t been all bad for the pair, revealing that they have gotten closer.

The two have been catching up on their favorite television shows during this time. She revealed that they binge watch four to five episodes a night. “Every day is date night,” she shared. While she has openly talked about her spicy sex life on “BBW,” and revealed that she does not perform oral sex, she expressed that the secret to her long-lasting marriage actually stems from good communication.

It’s unknown when season nine of “BBW” will premiere on VH1, but Christie is always working. She is currently filming “The Jackie Christie Project,” her self-titled variety show, and taping for her new podcast that goes by the same name. “I really want to give a voice to not just average people, interesting people, celebrities, everybody. I want to give a voice to reality stars as well because that’s what I’ve been doing for nine years, and I think a lot of the times some things can be misinterpreted or misunderstood about us,” she concluded.
