Lori Harvey got into some legal trouble after she crashed her vehicle into another in Beverly Hills, California, on Sunday and then tried to leave the scene.
According to multiple reports, the 22-year-old was arrested on a misdemeanor hit and run charge and delaying a police investigation. A TMZ witness claimed that Harvey was texting and driving when her Mercedes G-Wagon smashed into a Toyota Prius, which knocked her vehicle on its side.
Another witness said a man in that Prius ran to assist Harvey and pulled her from the SUV.
From there, possibly in a state of confusion, the young model tried to walk home but was stopped by police when they arrived at the scene. She also tried to FaceTime her stepfather Steve Harvey at one point and was arrested a little before 10 p.m local time.
After Harvey received a ticket and signed a document to appear in court, she was released from the scene instead of being booked. Police said alcohol wasn’t involved.
The news of the accident comes days after rumors surfaced that Harvey and Sean “Diddy” Combs parted ways.
The 49-year-old music mogul was seen with a Latin model and actress last weekend, while Harvey was in Washington, D.C., attending Howard University’s homecoming — which supposedly caused the split.
Harvey and Combs have been paired together in the public’s mind since March of this year, after being seen at a reggae concert in Miami. After that, they dined together in Malibu, California, at Nobu and walked around the SoHo section of New York City wearing matching outfits.
A source for E! News said it was Combs who decided to end things.
“Him and Lori had a fun fling, but Diddy is still healing and focusing on himself right now,” the insider claimed, referencing Combs’ split with his longtime partner Cassie. “He is not ready to be in a long-term committed relationship and is focusing on his kids right now.”
Harvey hasn’t posted anything about the accident, nor has her stepfather. But earlier in the day, she shared an Instagram Live video of herself at Nobu in Malibu with friend Amaya Colon.
On Monday, the Beverly Hills Police Department sent Atlanta Black Star a statement and provided a few more details.
“On 10/20/19 at 9:48 p.m., the Beverly Hills Police Department received a report of a traffic collision in the 200-block of Moreno Drive,” the statement read. “A sedan was travelling north on Moreno when it collided with an unoccupied parked vehicle. No injuries were reported.”
“When police arrived, the driver of the sedan had left the scene of the collision,” it continued. “The driver, determined to be Lori Harvey, was ultimately contacted by police in the area. Due to the fact that Harvey left the scene of the collision without providing her information or contacting police as required by law, and caused a delayed in the police investigation, she was cited for misdemeanor hit and run.”
Harvey is due in court on 1/21/2020.
