Gucci Mane found himself embroiled in controversy this week after he joined the new “I Love My Wife” wave on social media.
The “So Icy” rapper praised his wife Keyshia Ka’Oir on Monday with a repost of a meme he found on the internet. The post featured their 2017 wedding portrait and highlighted the model sticking by Gucci’s side when he underwent his personal hardships.
It read, “Everyone wants this, but what y’all forget was she was with wild Gucci, on drugs Gucci, cheating Gucci, in jail Gucci, publicity with other women Gucci… You b–ches is with the next n–ga after couples fight.”
The debatable Trap King, tagged his wife and wrote in his caption, ” I love my wife she stayed down! @keyshiakaoir #MrsDavis 💎💎” He also posted another meme about Ka’Oir allegedly flipping $2 million he gave her before he went to prison in 2014, and turning it into $6 million.
He added in his caption, “God thank you for my wife 🤷🏿♂️💰❤️💎🏹 @keyshiakaoir #MrsDavis 10/17”
Gucci’s post immediately sparked a debate among fans. Some applauded Ka’Oir for staying with her husband through his hardships, while others deemed their relationship “toxic.”
“Whew sounds like toxic love 🤦🏽♀️ to me. This is not how God wants it to be. Love is not supposed to hurt you.”
“Goals💯 she definitely a rider! She loves him unconditionally. God will bless her abundantly @keyshiakaoir”
“This is not love! Plus not all men wud come back lik Gucci…pples grace aint d same.wat works for u may nt work for me🤷♀️”
“I respect everything y’all are about #truelove”
“I’m good luv I’ll rather die poor and alone than live in affluence with a man that would disrespect me 💯.”
Gucci and Ka’Oir’s nine-year relationship hasn’t always been peaches and cream. The couple ostensibly stood the test of time after the rapper served a two-year prison sentence in 2014 after being convicted of unlawful possession of a firearm.
The 34-year-old model stood by her then-boyfriend’s side as fans urged her to leave him.
“I did have the question thrown at me many times: ‘Why are you with him?’ — both before and when he was locked up,” she told New York Post in October 2017. “I would tell him about it. It did not bother me because they do not know the real Gucci, so I did not care.”
After the Atlanta native was released from the slammer in 2016, he followed up with a proposal to Ka’Oir at an Atlanta Hawks game on Nov. 22. The two tied the knot the following year in May 2017 and had their wedding ceremony in October.
