Steve Harvey caught wind of a throwback video fellow comic Bill Bellamy shared of another comedian doing his impression of the “Family Feud” host. And it seems Harvey is gonna go after Godfrey.
The clip was initially uploaded to Comedy Hype’s Instagram page Tuesday before Bellamy shared it to his own Instagram account the following day.
“He be like, ‘What yo ass say?'” Godfrey, a comedian, said during what appeared to be an episode of his podcast “In Godfrey We Trust.” “I mean, yo ass… She was like, she was like… y’all said… she said, aw hell naw! … I’m just sayin’ y’all … I’m gon’ read that one mo’ godd–m time. Aw hell naw!”
The impression, complete with Godfrey pushing his lips out to expose his teeth much in the way Harvey does, had Godfrey’s co-hosts rolling with laughter.
“Classic.💀💀😩 What would you rate @comediangodfrey’s #SteveHarvey impression 1-10?” read Comedy Hype’s caption.
When Bellamy shared the clip he captioned it, “#ComedyOfTheDay @comediangodfrey got the best @iamsteveharveytv impression ever!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 NAILED IT!!!! #comedy #steveharvey #familyfeud.”
Even Harvey had to admit that the playful mimicry was humorous. But he vowed to go after the comedian the next time he sees him.
“Hey @comediangodfrey that’s funny as hell but when I see you I’m slapping yo ass,” Harvey captioned the footage.
Folks in Harvey’s comments section rated the impression high on the scale.
“Oh he nailed that 🎯”
“Wow Steve he got you down pack. I just close my eyes and can’t even tell it’s someone else.😂😂😂😂”
“10🐐🐐🐐🐐”
“I’m hollering 🤣🤣🤣 10!”
Even Harvey’s son Wynton had to give Godfrey props.
“HEEEEEEELLL NAH! 😂😂😂 NEVER HEARD NOTHING LIKE THIS 😂 IM ROLLING,” the 22-year-old said.
This isn’t the first time that Steve has gotten onto a fellow comic for their impersonation of him. Kenan Thompson, who is the longest-tenured cast member on “Saturday Night Live,” has long portrayed Steve during game show sketches “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” and “Family Feud.”
Speaking to TV Guide in 2017 about whether or not he’s seen the skits, Steve jokingly said, “Have I seen Kenan Thompson — fat ass Kenan Thompson’s impression of me? Yeah, I’ve seen it. He needs to lose some more weight but yeah, I’ve seen it. Oh, it’s so funny. It’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.”
In May, Thompson said to Fox News he ran into Steve while shooting the NBC comic competition show “Bring The Funny.”
“I just saw [Steve Harvey] when we were shooting ‘Bring The Funny’ and he was on the next stage doing ‘Family Feud,’ so I sat down with him and he was like, ‘You better watch yourself,'” Thompson said. “I love Steve. I’ve known him for a super long time.”
