It doesn’t look like Wendy Williams will be receiving any boss of the year plaques from her staff at “The Wendy Williams Show,” because, according to the Daily Mail, employees are upset with her for keeping them in the dark about the show’s future.
Wendy hasn’t filmed an episode of her talk show since late December, because she’s been suffering from Graves’ disease. Plus, there’s been multiple rumors that her absence also has to do with husband Kevin Hunter cheating on her and being abusive.
A string of celebrities have filled in for Williams for the past month, one of them being Nick Cannon, who began this week. On Monday’s episode, Cannon revealed that he spoke with the 54-year-old over the phone and said she’s doing “amazing.”
The “Wild ‘N Out” host also stated that he spoke with her entire family, Hunter included and they’re doing just fine. “The love and the passion is still there,” he said about the couple.
But some of Williams’ staff are upset that she gave Cannon an update and not them.
“Many of us have been here since the early days and it’s a complete joke to be kept in the dark like this,” one of them told the Daily Mail. “How could she be so selfish? We all rely on this paycheck.”
“I mean please, she has made a fortune from tearing people down, however, when it comes to her own life, it’s all a secret,” that person added. “Imagine if this was another celebrity living their life like she does, she’d be sipping the tea and talking about it on ‘Hot Topics’ every damn day. She’s such a hypocrite.’
There are also some staff people who believe Williams is using Graves’ disease as an excuse to explain her absence, especially since she was spotted in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., last week.
“After she made that ratchety appearance at CVS in Florida last week we knew her excuses weren’t true,” said a source of the show. “She looked disheveled, she didn’t look sick.”
It’s also been said Debmar-Mercury, the company that produces Williams’ show, is worried she’ll never come back, and the current guest hosts are actually auditioning in case that happens.
In late January, a source for In Touch Weekly said Williams would be returning to the show in three weeks’ time.
