Nearly a week after the explosive finale of “Braxton Family Values” aired on WE tv, a report has emerged that claims Iyanla Vanzant doesn’t feel Tamar Braxton is suited for reality television.
The singer famously clashed with the TV life coach during a family mediation session meant to allow Braxton, her parents and her siblings — Toni Braxton, Towanda Braxton, Traci Braxton and Trina Braxton — to sort through their issues.
“You really don’t quit with this name-calling,” an irritated Braxton told Vanzant on the season’s final episode. “I’m not here for that. ‘I now want to be seen?’ You really gotta watch your mouth … who talks to me like that? Who talks to anybody like that?”
And that’s not all, Vanzant is said to be considering filing a defamation lawsuit against Tamar over tweets the singer posted. They include calling the OWN host “the devil” following their on-screen meeting.
It appears the conflicts have led Vanzant to conclude that Tamar should not be in front of reality TV cameras, claiming that it’s harmful to her health.
“Iyanla feels like Tamar craves attention and she’ll eventually destroy her own life and continue to damage her family’s relationships with one another,” a source told the Jasmine Brand Tuesday, Oct. 9. “She doesn’t think that reality TV is a good place for her.”
Additionally, insiders say Vanzant is concerned that Tamar “might not be well” and “wants Tamar to get some help.”
Among the issues Tamar tried to sort through with Vanzant and her family are working on forgiving Traci for continuing to shoot BFV while the rest of the family went on strike this summer.
“Forgive me for not showing you compassion and sympathy when you really needed it,” Tamar said tearfully to Traci. “And for real being the shoulder you needed to cry on, a person for you to lean on — not half ass but wholeheartedly. I’m so sorry because I know that you needed that.”
And in a portion apparently left on the cutting room floor, Tamar’s childhood sexual abuse bubbled up in discussions. The moment, which Tamar pinned on Vanzant in an Oct. 5 tweet, led the performer to up and leave the mediation.
“A lot of things happened in my childhood that I was too afraid to talk about or too ashamed to talk about. But the truth of the matter is that I have been molested by both sides of my family,” Tamar explained to “The Wendy Williams Show” in September. “It’s nothing I’ve ever talked about and I never thought that I would sit around a table with Iyanla, who’s here to talk about me and my sisters and their problems and to bring that up and sex shame me, basically, in front of everybody. So that’s why I got up and walked out.”
