Nearly a month after celebrating their 22nd wedding anniversary, Dr. Simone Whitmore and husband Cecil Whitmore celebrated Father’s Day with another “Married to Medicine” couple.
“Father’s Day ended on a great note for some great fathers! #married2med #appreciation,” the OBGYN captioned a Monday, June 18 image of her with her hubby and castmember Toya Bush-Harris with her husband Dr. Eugene Harris.
Bush-Harris initially posted the same side-by-side pic on her Instagram writing, “Father’s Day Fun! We were making the men feel special… 😘😘😘 #married2med #marriedtomedicine @bravotv #harrisfamily #thewhitmores @drsswhit @cecilcwhit @docgene_1977.”
Even still, the focus was on the Whitmores. Fans continued to applaud the progress the couple has made since calling off their divorce earlier this year.
“This makes [me] smile.”
“I’m so happy Simone and Cecil are together!!!!”
“YOU GUYS ROCK❣✊🏽.”
“This makes me so happy! I’m glad to see you and Cecil still together. Love wins and the devil still ain’t s—. Glad he lost this round!🤗.”
“The reason marriage lasts is people don’t give up. Very inspiring.”
“I’m so glad you & Cecil are working through things. That reunion show where your friends helped you all get back together & stop the divorce gave me life. It was the most realist s— I’ve ever seen. Love the show & love you all. Look forward to next season… Keep Loving on each other. You give me hope.”
The celebration is well warranted, as when Dr. Simone announced in January that she filed to divorce Cecil, it sounded like there was no turning back.
“I have reached a place where I am in a marriage where I do not feel loved and no sacrifices are being made for me to make me feel loved,” she told People magazine at the time. “I must move on.”
However, two months later, the couple halted the split after Cecil decided to end his friendship with Tammy, an ongoing thorn in the side of the relationship. Aided by input from their Bravo co-stars, the couple reconciled on-air.
“Cecil and I left the reunion committed to one another to work on our marriage,” Dr. Simone told Bravo. “We are in counseling individually and together…We are still living separately but hopeful for a union under one roof soon.”
