R&B singer Keyshia Cole and her NBA player husband Daniel ‘Boobie’ Gibson are apparently dealing with the fallout of a fight that took place in New Orleans at the Essence Festival earlier this month.
It was initially reported via TMZ that Gibson, who last played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, was arrested earlier today for assault and battery. It was later revealed via a statement that the 27-year-old professional basketball player turned himself in earlier today and was released by 11am CST.
In the extended statement released to TMZ, Gibson stated:
“Earlier this month during the Essence Music Festival, I was involved in an incident with other individuals while I was out with my wife. It’s unfortunate that some see opportunity in taking advantage of people who work hard for what they have achieved. Once all the facts of the incident come out, I expect to be fully vindicated.”
An unconfirmed source from the New Orleans Police Department also revealed to the gossip site that Gibson was involved in a fight on the night of July 8th, leaving a male victim with a broken jaw.
To confirm that her husband is a free man, Cole tweeted the below photo of him in the driver’s side of an SUV around 5pm EST.
