Tyler Perry unleashes pure chaos on his new movie, “Why Did I Get Married Again?”
The third film in the movie franchise follows longtime married couples as they navigate love, betrayal and the question behind the title during a trip to Italy.
Actor Lamman Rucker returns as Troy, Sheila’s husband, alongside the one person who still gets under everyone’s skin.

Sheila’s ex-husband, Mike, played by Richard T. Jones, has always rubbed everyone the wrong way.
But Rucker recently told Atlanta Black Star that Mike’s mouth remains one of the biggest triggers Troy still grapples with.
Rucker says viewers will see Troy face similar triggers in “Why Did I Get Married Again?”
It focuses more on Taraji P. Henson’s son and his planned wedding to the daughter of Michael Jai White and Tasha Smith’s characters, Marcus and Angela.
In the new film, Mike arrives with a woman who once dated his nephew, Da’Vinchi, then calls his ex-wife his “leftovers.”
To spread his rage, he then exposes everyone’s secrets, just as he did in 2007’s “Why Did I Get Married?”

This time, he unleashes the secrets during a nighttime wedding rehearsal instead of a dinner table, where Jill Scott as Sheila famously cracked him with a bottle for cheating.
This time, he unleashes the secrets during a nighttime wedding rehearsal instead of the infamous dinner. Portrayed by Jill Scott, Sheila cracked him with a bottle during that earlier showdown.
Mike grabs the mic to expose the group’s family drama again, including a nightclub incident involving their kids. The scene ends with Mike taking an elbow in the face from Perry, who had had enough.
But it’s Troy who typically throws the punches, which Rucker subtly nods to in the new film.
He recalls nearly crossing the line on set while filming 2010’s “Why Did I Get Married Too?”
Viewers also remember the fallout after Troy learned Sheila helped him land a job by contacting her ex-husband.
Amid suspicions of her cheating, he stormed over to Mike’s home to find his wife aiding her ex-husband after chemo.
Rucker says Troy’s anger quickly turned to hurt, noticing the fear in Sheila’s eyes.
“People understand that feeling of being made that kind of fool by a woman. A man will lose his mind in a heartbeat,” he tells ABS. “And that’s where you start to see, you just see Troy ramping up every step he takes.”
Instead of backing away from that feeling, Rucker leaned all the way in to show how close Troy had come to crossing a line.
“Everything looks bad, everything,” he said. “I snatch [Mike] up. I snatch him up, boom, lay him out and I’m about to go for him again. And now she in the way.”
Sheila stepped in to stop him before things went too far, which Troy saw as an attempt to save Mike.
“I remember how literally physically hot I was getting,” Rucker says. “And I walked up on her and I saw something in her eyes that I would never want to see in a woman’s eyes, which was like that fear of that moment before she thinks a man is going to hit her. And I’ll never forget it.”
He was so deep in character that Troy’s anger followed him off set, forcing Perry to step in.
“As I left I wanted to hit and hurt something so bad and Tyler had to stop me because I think he saw me going for like a piece of furniture or something. You know what I mean? Oh yeah, I was about to tear that place up on the way out,” Rucker says.

He knew Scott was safe but wanted his character to flirt with that “line of the potential of that lack of control that any man might have.”
“But there’s no way Troy would do that to her,” Rucker adds.
Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married Again?” is available now on Netflix.
