Actor Michael B. Jordan has fans of all ages, including an 89-year-old woman named Mary Story.
Her granddaughter, Natalie Lauren Sims, went viral back in May for posting a hilarious video after discovering that Story added a framed photo of Jordan on her wall of family photos.
The video received 1.7 million likes on Instagram, which ultimately drew attention from the “Black Panther” star himself.
Story had Jordan’s image hanging on a wall alongside her actual family members in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Now her granddaughter is spilling the beans on how their budding friendship began.
On June 25, Sims posted an updated video of Jordan making a video call to her grandmother to thank her for supporting him.
Smiling brightly at the phone, Story said, “Well, hello, Michael.”
“What’s up with you? How you doing?” Jordan responded before Story replied, “This is your granny.”
The Oscar winner continued, “Thank you so much for all the love you’ve been showing.”
When Story returned the gratitude, Jordan continued in a mannerly tone, “Yes ma’am. You’ve got a beautiful family. Thanks for including me in the collage, in the family pictures. I appreciate that.”
Story admitted she wasn’t sure what to do with Jordan’s magazine photo initially, until she suddenly decided to put it in a frame.
They eventually gave Jordan a tour of the walls complete with family photos and even showed where she placed his image.
Story’s daughter eventually hopped on to greet him and said, “I just want to say you are truly the man of the year here.”
Jordan responded with compliments for the women. He said, “No problem. I just love seeing three generations of beautiful Black women. This is great. Y’all are amazing. So much strength, especially from Tulsa. I’ve never been to Tulsa before.”
After sharing that he should come, Jordan said he “might just surprise” them with an appearance.
On Aug. 4, Sims sat on WPLG Local 10 news, where she said it didn’t take long for Jordan’s team to get in contact with her.
“The video went viral in probably 24 hours. So, by day 2, his team reached out and said, ‘Michael has seen the video and we want you to know that he’s seen the video,” she explained.
Sims was told, “He will respond, but he is on a promo run in London, but we want to send Granny something special.’”
That something special was two pieces of jewelry.
Story received a necklace and bracelet with her birthstone, amethyst. She discovered that she and Jordan shared the same birthday month. Her birthday is Feb. 3rd and Jordan’s birthday is Feb. 9.
Fans responded in the comments, writing, “And that’s what manifesting looks like wow.”
Someone else typed, “He’s such a gentle and sweet soul. He just loves genuine people.”
A third wrote,”This is completely adorable, love that he responded like he did. Such a gentleman.”
A fourth typed, “Aww. That is so sweet.”
In the original video where Sims first saw Jordan made it on the wall, she revealed that even though “granny” didn’t know his name — she thought he was handsome enough to keep her picture for memories.
Sims also said there were no other celebrities that made it on the wall except President Barack Obama and civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr.
She welcomed Jordan into the family and said if he ever came to Tulsa, her grandma would take care of him.
