‘I’m a Pretty Cool Dad’: Kevin Gates Hits Back Following Criticism for Giving His 10-Year-Old Daughter a Driving Lesson Without Her Seatbelt

Kevin Gates’ parenting skills have many fans on edge after he showed his underage child completing a new life milestone.

The “Really Really” rapper posted a clip of himself teaching his daughter how to drive, which has many worried about his and the child’s safety. Gates has two kids, a daughter named Islah Koren Gates, and a son named Khaza Kamil Gates.

His daughter is just one year older than her 9-year-old younger brother, but that did not stop their dad from putting the preteen behind the wheel of his Ram TRX truck.

Gates filmed the driver’s lesson while they were on a main road with other drivers on it. One of the rapper’s other children was also in the back of the big truck. Islah’s chair was leaned back, but she was up on the wheel, peering over it as she was steering. She was also not wearing a seatbelt, and the warning sound beeped throughout the video.

Gates encouraged his underage daughter’s driving, as he said, “Look at you. You can give it a lil gas, go ‘bout 20. Look at you, keep that muhf—ka in a row. You got that b—h, Is.” In the little girl’s defense, she managed to drive the truck well as her dad only jerked forward a couple of times throughout the video.

But this isn’t the first time Islah has been behind the wheel. When she was 6 years old, Gates had his daughter in his lap while he was driving. He said, “Street s—t, street s—t. You got it come on ma, I’m tellin’ you got it bae. Just like you drive that other s—t.”

The 37-year-old captioned the Instagram Reel, “When you love what you have – you have everything you need – These moments are the ones worth more than anything to a Father #islah says I’m a pretty cool dad – I love you all #onlythegeneralstour #alhamdulillah.”

While fans had problems with the fact that the 10-year-old was driving the large truck on a street alongside other cars, most called out the “Out the Mud” rapper for not taking the precaution to put his child in a seatbelt.

One commenter said, “This cool and all but bra put her seatbelt on.” Gates abrasively responded to the man saying, “I don’t raise p—y’s.” Another person asked, “Cool… but why no seat belt?!” The rapper responded again saying, “in case I gotta hop out [laughing emoji] just joking.”

One man tried to defend the “Power” artist, stating that most of the people asking about the seatbelt were hypocrites. The man said, “Y’all know damn well 90% of y’all don’t wear yall seatbelts on the regular, talk otp, text , drink etc but worried about her seatbelt. You going to die when it’s your time regardless of the measures you take. She straight.”

Gates seemingly agreed, adding, “without a doubt or contradiction.”

This is not the first time the “Big Gangsta” rapper has disgusted his fans this month. Earlier this month, he was called out for performing a provocative act with a concertgoer in the middle of his “Only Generals Tour” show.

Gates invited a pregnant female fan on stage and sat her down in a chair. He then proceeded to lean the woman’s head back, and spit in her mouth, all while his crowd cheered. But not many were laughing online.
