‘It Was Intentional’: Garcelle Beauvais Shares More Details About Rosie Perez Kicking Her, Reveals What Former ‘The View’ Co-host Said to Her the Next Day

Garcelle Beauvais is the latest celebrity to appear on TV One’s “UNCENSORED” series, where she discussed her time on “The View.” She joined the ABC show as a guest host in 2015, a time, she said, during which she experienced a few “cringeworthy” moments. In her “Love Me As I Am” memoir, Beauvais opened up about being kicked by her co-host Rosie Perez for talking too much. The actress recalled more details about their interaction in a viral clip from her upcoming episode.

“I was in Haiti doing some charity work with my kids and I got a call that they wanted me to come and co-host ‘The View’ for a week,” she explained. “Huge, right? Huge, huge, huge. Great.”

“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star then brought up another encounter in a wardrobe room with Nicolle Wallace, who was a host on “The View” at the time.

Beauvais said, “So I thought I’d strike up a conversation. I knew she had kids, and I said, ‘Oh, so you have kids?’ And she goes, ‘Uh-huh.’ And that’s it.”

The 55-year-old claims Wallace said “nothing back,” which prompted her to leave the room. She mentioned feeling uneasy about completing the rest of the week despite developing a “good rhythm” with her fellow hosts. That is until the day she was kicked while discussing her point on “The View.”

“I’m making my point, I’m setting it up. I’m talking about it. I get kicked under the table by Rosie Perez,” she said. “It wasn’t a kick where like ‘Oh, she’s crossing her legs.’ It was a kick where it was intentional. And so at the end of the show, I say nothing. I grab my stuff and I leave.”

Beauvais said she was even more surprised at what Perez said to her the following day. She recalls the “Do The Right Thing” actress requesting to speak to her alone in a dressing room.

“And she said, “‘I kicked you because I wanted you to stop talking,’ ” Beauvais shared before adding, “That’s not how you do it.”

She continued, “I’m in your house but that kick said a lot, a lot to me. And I didn’t want to be in that environment. I had heard a lot of stories. By the end of my week, I had a meeting with one of the executives and she said, ‘How did it go?’ And I said, ‘It’s not for me.’ “
