Mathew Knowles may be a grandfather, but that does not mean he is out of the loop when it comes to the latest trends. Or at the very least, the former music executive does not view himself as being out of touch.
Social media users were in for quite the surprise when Knowles posted two perplexing selfies of himself looking into a mirror while making hand gestures and interesting facial expressions. Knowles, 70, is the father of superstar entertainers Beyoncé and Solange, and he is also the ex-husband of Tina Knowles-Lawson.
In the past, he has caused a stir on social media by sharing his opinion on trending topics, and for the frenzy he stirs by the mere mention of a possible Destiny’s Child reunion. But this time, social users are divided on whether to shake their heads in shame or have a chuckle at his latest shenanigans.
“Blue get your grandpa,” and “Someone take his phone,” read two comments.
“It’s the placement of the bi-focals for me.”
“Lmfaoo what gang sign is that? THE BEE HIVE?? Y’all got a hand sign now too.”
“You know what… I’m not even going to say s—t because he gave us Beyoncé.”
The Texas Southern University professor may have garnered the attention he wanted in an effort to share an encouraging message. In the caption he wrote, “Listen, I’m 70 years old, but you don’t think I’m still learning? I’m still picking up books, reading articles, educating myself and keeping up with the latest trends. Successful people don’t learn when it’s convenient, they make it a lifelong habit. See! I know how the kids pose these days. Here are a couple of my best impressions of it. Seriously though, don’t stop learning about what can help you and the people around you win. It’s never too early, and it’s never too late. That’s the amazing thing about becoming better…anyone can do it at any stage of life!”
As comments about the posts further derailed, another person wrote, “Him and Solange son gonna always embarrass the family.” In April, his eldest grandchild, Solange’s son Julez, found himself in the middle of a salacious social media scandal. The soon-to-be 18-year-old was rumored to be expecting a child with an OnlyFans personality. The aspiring rapper seemingly fanned the rumor by allegedly sharing screenshots of conversations between him and the woman identified as Adore. The rumor disappeared from online banter almost as fast as it cropped up.
