‘This Really Upset Me and My Homegirls’: Matthew Knowles Shuts Down Destiny’s Child Reunion Rumor

“No, No, No” — Destiny’s Child is not planning a reunion, or that’s what Mathew Knowles the group’s manager, says.

Knowles gave some clarity to TMZ after fans got antsy when they saw the Twitter header on Destiny Child’s page had changed. Several believed that it could’ve been a sign that the group would be releasing new music but Knowles, who is the father of Beyoncé, one of Destiny Child’s members, said that it’s simply not true.

He claims that the record label was just updating the social media header but that there are yet to be any discussions about the group reuniting. Fans responded to the news with mixed reactions. One person said, “This really upset me and my homegirls.” Someone else wrote, “Plot twist… DC is planning a reunion behind his back 😂.”

Some fans came after Knowles, saying he probably doesn’t know anything. One person said, “How tf he know Beyonce don’t like him she probably AINT tell him lol,” and another wrote, “It ain’t up to him.”

Despite him being still the manager of Destiny’s Child, fans know a piece of history between Beyoncé and her father. In 2011, she fired him as her manager and it was widely believed that it was because he allegedly was stealing her money. The issue was brought to Beyoncé’s attention by Live Nation and a completed audit confirmed the rumors. But Knowles continued to claim his innocence.

Keeping things professional like she usually does, Beyoncé told UsMagazine in 2011 that it was only on a “business level” that she and Knowles were separating. At the time, Knowles said he needed to put more focus on Music World Entertainment’s growth in the brand’s gospel artists.

He said, “Because of the success of all of these artists, my focus has to be on gospel now. I am also still going to continue on with my joint venture with Columbia to work on Destiny’s Child and develop new artists, like the UK pop band From Above, plus Music World’s kids music division.”
