‘It’s Gon Slap Like Will’: Will Smith Jokes Fly After Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock Reportedly Team Up for Comedy Show

Fans are expressing excitement after learning that comedians Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock will be performing together in London. The two comedians will headline a comedy show organized by Live Nation on Sept. 3 at the 02 Arena.

The two comedians gave fans a preview of what to expect at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles on May 5 after Rock joined Chappelle on stage during his set. Chappelle was fresh from his show at the Hollywood Bowl two days prior where he was attacked on stage by a 23-year-old man named Isaiah Lee. Lee climbed the stage and jumped Chappelle before being pummeled by security.

Rock and Chappelle both joked about being attacked while performing. Rock joked about being slapped by actor Will Smith as Rock presented during the Academy Awards in January. The comedian had cracked a joke about Smith’s wife’s shaved head, which prompted Smith to walk onto the stage and slap Rock across the face. Smith later won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in “King Richard,” but was banned from the Academy Awards for 10 years as punishment for attacking Rock during the live ceremony.

Moments after Lee attacked Chappelle at the Hollywood Bowl, Rock went on stage and quipped, “Was that Will Smith?” Two days later, Chappelle joked about being attacked by a man with leaves in his hair while Rock joked about being hit by a soft rapper.

“At least you got smacked by someone of repute!” Chappelle joked. “I got smacked by a homeless guy with leaves in his hair.” Rock replied with, “I got smacked by the softest n—a that ever rapped.” After the news reached The Shade Room on Instagram, fans responded with an abundance of Will Smith jokes.

“They about to roast Will the whole show,” joked one fan. “This show is about to be hilarious yo!” added another. One fan made up a title for the comedy show. “ATTACKED the special,” while another fan replied that things were about to get shady in the comedy world. “The comedic shade that is about to be thrown,” wrote that person. “The Will Smith jokes are coming,” added another fan. “It’s gon slap like Will,” echoed another fan. “That’s gonna be a lit show.”

“Dave said Will can’t slap both of us,” added another fan. “All I can see is Will Smith crying meme,” replied another. One fan joked, “Is Will invited?”

One fan poked fun about Smith getting Rock employment. “He needs to pay Will because he’s been booked and busy every since the slap.” Fans will be able to purchase tickets to the show beginning on June 10.
