The Golden State Warriors are going to the NBA Finals for the sixth time in eight years after beating the Dallas Mavericks 120-110 on May 26, winning the seven-game series 4-1. However, the bigger story for some appears to be the grand gesture former NBA superstar-turned-sports analyst Shaquille O’Neal made toward a fan following Thursday night’s game.
“I’m here at the Western Conference finals, and I’m about to do something special. I’m ’bout to give a fan this,” the 50-year-old said in a video clip before showing off what appeared to be a luxurious Invicta watch from his collaboration with the designer brand.
In the clip, an older gentleman is wearing a Golden State basketball jersey, jacket, and cap. Shaq is then seen welcoming the man with a handshake before taking the pricey piece of jewelry off his wrist and giving it to the visibly stunned fan.“What? My dad loves you,” a woman off camera let out.
“Shaq, you don’t know, but you are my favorite man. I can’t believe — First of all, brother, I’ve had three heart attacks, I’m alive, and I got to meet Shaq, and I got to meet Kenny [Smith],” the man shared. “Come on, man. All praises to the highest up.” The man was pleasantly beside himself. “I got the watch. It’s you, Shaq.”
Fans applauded the former athlete for always going above and beyond for fans. One Instagram user wrote, “Shaq has always poured into the universe. I’m here for it. I love some Shaq! Reaching and teaching!” Another person commented, “Wooow he made his entire life!!!”
“WOW THAT MAN WAS SO SWEET AND GRACIOUS AND SHAQ IS SO KIND! THIS IS HELLA BEAUTIFUL,” wrote a third online user. “Shaq always showing love and giving back to the people especially in Georgia to the single moms during the holidays.”
“This why he’ll forever be blessed cause he always paying it forward.”
As the comments have already revealed, Shaq is known for contributing to a more significant cause. In 2021 the NBA legend partnered with The Notables to create NFT images of himself, with proceeds going to his charity organization, the Shaquille O’Neal Foundation.
